Calgary Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel is pleased to announce that import linebackers Robert McCune and Jae Thaxton as well as import defensive end Kenny Mainor have signed contracts with the club. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed. "All three of these players showed a lot of athleticism and potential at our free-agent camp in Florida," said Hufnagel. "Robert McCune obviously has the most pro experience of the trio and he'll definitely be in the mix at training camp at the middle linebacker position." McCune was a fifth-round draft pick of the National Football League's Washington Redskins in 2005 who has seen regular-season action with both Washington and the Baltimore Ravens. He has also spent time with the Miami Dolphins and Cleveland Browns. Prior to turning pro, McCune was a conference all-star at the University of Louisville. Mainor was a second-team Sun Belt Conference all-star for Troy University in 2007 as he recorded 40 tackles, including 9.5 tackles for loss, and five sacks in just 10 games. Thaxton, meanwhile, spent three seasons at Florida State, one of the most renown programs in U.S. college football. Stamps 2010 season tickets are available now.
