Good for Stan to take a stand! I agree 100%! It's good to have people that don't give a shit and tell it like it really is.

Claiming that the NBA one-and-done rule is racist because the "white sports" of baseball and hockey allow players to come straight out of high school into their minor league systems is completely idiotic, since the NBA already allows the same. The one-and-done rule doesn't allow 18-year-olds to be drafted, but they can enter the G-League and play for pay if they want.

And they can hire agents all they want, they just can't do so and utilize the personal exposure and marketing that the NCAA provides. If the on-and-doner's weren't realizing some benefit from engaging with the NCAA system, they wouldn't do so; they would use the other more lucrative avenues available to them. The fact that the Terrence Ferguson's and Emanuel Mudiay's of the world are so few and far between is pretty clear evidence that the kids who do choose to go to college for the one year receive a lot more from playing at the NCAA level than the critics are willing to admit.

Were you happy about Telfair? Bringing players straight out of high school into the NBA had some spectacular busts. I have no problem with having the G League as an entry vehicle for players who don't want to go to college, but they're paid as the unproven talent that they are. You can't adequately scout high school kids when they haven't gone up against a high level of competition.

I think the NBA has to look at expanding the facilities and functions of the D league. They want more data and games to evaluate these picks..... well, have a true academy/minor league system. And don't let the draft be the only option in the future of acquiring developing players. Expand amateur basketball's scope and take it out of the hands of the NCAA. Maybe Lavar Ball had one right idea after all.

Exactly. It is idiotic to say it is racist. The NCAA cares about money and nothing else. March Madness is their cash cow. Any threat to hurt this product is a concern. The loss of hockey and baseball players would not be a concern.

Honestly, it wouldn't surprise me if the officials in charge of the NCAA have heavily influenced the league office, pushing for early-entry restrictions and subverting any efforts to institute a legitimate minor-league system. It's certainly in the NCAA's interests to do so.
