<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">First-year Kansas coach Bill Self said he didn't believe the Jayhawks deserved their No. 1 ranking. They proved him right. Matt Lottich scored 18 points, including a key 3-pointer with 2:27 remaining, and No. 21 Stanford beat the top-ranked Jayhawks 64-58 Saturday in the John Wooden Classic. No. 9 Kentucky beat UCLA 52-50 in the opener of the 10th annual doubleheader at Anaheim Arena. Thanks to upsets of the top four teams, Kansas moved from sixth to first in this week's Associated Press poll -- the biggest jump to the top since 1965. The Jayhawks (3-1) are sure to be replaced when the new poll comes out Monday. So, who should be ranked No. 1? "Whoever was No. 2," Stanford coach Mike Montgomery replied. That would be Florida, which raised its record to 5-0 by beating Stetson 74-61 on Saturday. </div> http://www.sportsline.com/collegebasketbal...0031206_KS@STAN
This loss sickens me for one main reason. This will probably put Kentucky into the top ranking. Aside from the slight win over UCLA, Kentucky hasn't played anyone yet. I hope the new number one team is Florida, Duke, or North Carolina.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting allnet:</div><div class="quote_post">With Florida's 5-0 record they will be the new number 1.</div>You are probably right, but North Carolina is still undefeated at 4-0. It's just a matter of which win was bigger, North Carolina over Illinois or Florida over Arizona. While the polls may indicate that the Arizona win was a better win, I believe the Illinois win was bigger. Arizona was ranked over Illinois, but I believe they were undeserving of that ranking. It took them everything they had to survive a scare against Saint Louis University earlier this morning. While watching that game I had a hard time figuring out which team was top ten, Saint Louis or Arizona. They played horrible to put it nicely. Then you have to take into consideration that North Carolina's win over Illinois was by a larger margain than Florida's close win over Arizona. Florida will probably be number one, followed by Kentucky, but I believe that North Carolina should hold the top spot.
North Carolina's win was very impressive. Illinois is looking like a very strong team even though Dee Brown struggled all night they had the players to stay close on the road.It will be tough to decide who the number 1 should really be.Florida,North Carolina and Duke can all make a case for taking that spot.
