Who here has streaky shooting? I do. I really need to fix it. It seems I am good shooting all week but then on my game day, I can't ever hit a shot. It isn't because of "nerves" or anything like that, because I don't get nervous playing basketball. Any ideas on how to fix streaky shooting?

In a game I get streaky to, I'll score 8 -10 in a row without a team member scoring then nothing for stretches. So I'd like to hear soltions too.
I'm super streaky...some days I can be unguardable and drain anything, but there are days where I want to put a bag over my head.
It's all about repitition. I was very streaky in like 7th grade, then all summer long going into 8th grade I worked and worked and worked on my shot. You have to make sure you have the same form and same release on every jumper, and you can't rush it. Well, 4 and a half years later I havn't had many problems with streakiness. Sure, everyone has their off-days, but I'm fairly consistant with my shooting. Repitition/Practice Same form Same release That should work wonders. I shot 400 shots per day that summer, and by the next season I saw a big improvement, I even extended my range.
Same with me. Some days I'm hitting everything and some days I'm flat out cold. I always make everything in practices or scrimmages though. I'm just streaky in games. I'm in the middle of still changing my form so I think that's part of it.
My brother is basically the best shooter in the world. He hits like 8 out of 10 shots in any game. Even if you defend him, he still shoots over you. Reminds me of Reggie Miller.Me? I'm not a very good shooter. My brother, who happens to be a year younger than me, is trying to teach me how to shoot. I've developed my shooting style, but if I take ten wide open mid-range shots, I'll probably only nail about four of them.
Im not on a Basketball team but when I do play at home my shots are a little off most of the time. Sometimes I cant get a good range from where im at.
Yeah, this happens to me too. It sucks. Im just trying to practice my form more and more though. Maybe that will help.
I always have a different shot. I never shoot the same way. If you don't understand, what I mean is that if you've ever seen Reggie Miller shoot, he shoots the same style most of the time. He doesn't switch the ball up to the front of his face or shoot by holding the ball down by his chest. Me? I always shoot different. Sometimes, I'll shoot a beautiful Ray Allen-type of shot, but it'll be around the freethrow line, so it won't look as spectacular as it would have from the three-point line. Other times, I shoot like Shawn Marion throws his freethrows. You know? All quick and ugly. Percentage? Not very good.Need to work on that...
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Something-To-Say @ Oct 3 2006, 11:17 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Marion still shoots like 70 something percent I think.</div>I'm not claiming that he's a horrible free throw shooter. I'm just saying that his free throw shots are ugly. That's all...
Not like it matters for me right now anyways. I got a badly sprained wrist and I have been out of comission for a week now.
Today, my brother and I went to a local park and played two-versus-two against a pair of tall ass white guys. I scored about three baskets... My brother caught on fire quickly and made shot after shot. He was unguardable. We played up to 30 points because we were playing with the "<u>win by two points</u>" rule and neither team could out score the other, even with my brother on fire. We won, of course, 30-28.P.S: I mentioned that the two guys were tall as hell because my brother is only 5'9" and I'm 5'10". These two guys were between 6'6" and 6'8". They couldn't get anything over us, not even rebounds.
lol... funny how u mention them being white..I played ball yesterday with some friends... I arrived at the park about 40 minutes after they started playing ... so while they were all warmed up and ready to go I still didnt even touch a basketball yet the whole day.. so the first time I got the ball going for a layup, my friend packed the ball onto my head hella hard... yeah and after dat I just made mid rangers.. but I had problems with layups for the rest of the day... no idea why.. I kept tossing the ball too high up onto the backboard... but I have problems with streaky shooting too.. well when I played at the park I was shooting like I always do.. making about 60% of my shots maybe..? so later I go to another park and play more ball and we play at this one court and I can make like 60% of my shots.. den we move to a dif court and its like impossible to sink a shot unless it was a swish...maybe it also depends if hoops are different... in a way
I have streaky shooting - normally when I'm tiredIt's all about focusing. remain focused and your shooting should be good
