<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>PITTSBURGH (Ticker) -- After losing backup quarterback Charlie Batch to a fractured right collarbone in Friday's preseason opener, the Pittsburgh Steelers are actively seeking a replacement.

Byron Leftwich, a former starter for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Atlanta Falcons, is scheduled to arrive in Pittsburgh for a workout Saturday and possibly sign with the Steelers, according to a report on Pittsburgh Post-Gazette web site.

Leftwich, 28, was released by Atlanta in February after a campaign that saw him play in three games, going 32-of-58 passing with a touchdown and two interceptions.

The injury-prone quarterback, who has played in just 20 games over the past three seasons, was cut by the Jacksonville Jaguars just prior to the start of the 2007 regular season after four years with the team.

Leftwich is 821-of-1402 (58.6 percent) passing in his career with 52 touchdowns and 38 interceptions. He's also rushed for 371 yards and eight scores, but that aspect of his game has suffered following a series on ankle injuries in recent years.

The 33-year-old Batch, who was plugged in to back up starter Ben Roethlisberger, is expected to miss four to six weeks after suffering the injury in the first half of Friday's 16-10 exhibition win over the Philadelphia Eagles.</div>
