Allen Park— Stefan Logan is used to people telling him what he can't do on a football field.
He's too small to play in college.
He's not talented enough to play in the NFL.
That's why the 5-foot-6 return ace for the Lions always is playing with a self-motivated edge.
"I didn't get drafted and I had stats with the best of all of them," said Logan, a finalist for the Harlon Hill Trophy (Division II player of the year) at South Dakota. "I keep that in the back of my mind. I had all these teams pass me up because of my size or the school I went to, or whatever the case may be.
"I knew I was capable of playing with the best of the best. There wasn't a doubt in my mind that I couldn't show these coaches what somebody who's small can do if they have some fight in them."
Logan has been fighting for that respect his whole career. But it finally appears he's found it.
"He's a playmaker," Lions coach Jim Schwartz said. "He's had an outstanding role in special teams — not only as a returner, but as a cover guy.
"He can play wide receiver, he can play running back, he can catch the ball out of the backfield, he can catch the ball out in space and he's a guy that can make a play. He's a spark."
But that's not what teams thought initially.
