Marc Stein of ESPN.com reports on Twitter that former Toronto Raptors coach Jay Triano could join the staff of new Portland Trail Blazers coach Terry Stotts as an assistant. ------------------------------ Morsel from coaching grapevine: Hearing Jay Triano will wind up on Terry Stotts' bench in Portland after ex-[Raptors head coach] was also chased by [Dallas Mavericks]. ------------------------------ The Raptors moved Triano into a scouting role in 2011, after he posted a record of 87-142 in 2+ seasons. He was replaced by Stotts' fellow former Dallas Mavericks assistant coach, Dwane Casey. Triano, 53, has also served as head coach of Canada's national basketball team. Stotts' staff currently includes Portland's former interim coach Kaleb Canales, who will return to an assistant's job in 2012-13. Stotts hasn't placed a timeline on filling out his staff but said last week at a press conference that contact with candidates has begun. -- Ben Golliver http://www.blazersedge.com/2012/8/16/3248717/stein-jay-triano-to-join-blazers-as-assistant-coach
That would be an out fucking standing hire. Triano likes a lot of motion in his offense, so I hope it's as an offensive type coordinator
Triano is one of Coach K's favourites and has worked with the US program in the past. Better stock up on clipboards.
I sure hope he's one hell of an offensive mastermind, because he's the worst defensive coach in NBA history (or at least since they started tracking these things). A couple years ago, his Raptors set a new NBA record for worst Team Defensive Rating. BNM
Jay Triano was named head coach of Canadian Men's National Team today. http://www.theglobeandmail.com/spor...etball-team-for-a-second-time/article4495315/
Yeah except he isn't our head coach. He is one assistant. I'll take the Canadian head coach to help with one aspect of the team, while the Mexican works on another, so the American dude can run the show while the Euro's sit on the bench and watch.
