<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'> Nets’ Slide Pushes Trade Rumors…Again January 26, 2008, 9:45 am ESPN’s Marc Stein writes the Nets are pushing Vince Carter in trade talks rather than Jason Kidd. Still, he notes, if a good deal for Kidd comes along, that could push things there as well... And Al Iannazzone writes there’s plenty of trade talks. Weekend Dime: Eastern Conference - Marc Stein - ESPN Catching Up with Kenyon - Al Iannazzone - In the 'Zzone</div>
my 4 keepers Josh Boone Sean Williams Richard Jefferson Marcus Williams everyone else put a for sale sign on them, I'd try to resign Antoine Wright and then start building it up again.
I still maintain that we're not forced to blow it up if we trade Vince. If we trade Kidd however, its a different story. In that situation I would keep Marcus Antoine resigned to somewhere in the area of 1.2 million a year Jefferson Sean Boone Krstic + players we get back in trade deals.
I don't get it. Vince is better, younger and cheaper than Kidd. If people are offering the same or more for Kidd, why the hell aren't we going in that direction? Thorniki sucks...

I don't think that any player is meeting their expecations save the rookie or Boone, but Kidd's increased TO's are being overshadowed by Vince's lack of scoring+defense. That's the way I see it at least.
Trading Vince does not mean blow it up, it means we have more options. Five years is a long time especailly when we might blow it up so trading him would be a good move. Getting a guy like Jamaal Crawford or someone putting up atleast 15 PPG still makes us compete, just in other ways.

Kidds turning the ball over way too much though, and shooting a terrible percentage as usual. possessions and pps are the two most important aspects of basketball, and Kidd isn't great at either of them. Vince doesn't get as many rebounds as Kidd, but he is much more efficient on offense.
Oh yeah. I mean you won't have to convince me that there are consistent problems amongst everyone on the team, thats why I'd prefer a coaching change before we get rid of a scapegoat

What team is going to want to trade for him at this point? There wasn't much attention for him when he hit the market, and now that he's come out and played how he has this season...who is going to want to take that on for another 5 years?

One option would be giving up on getting comparable young players back, and shooting for picks and contracts from a team on the bubble in the western conference. With the log jam of good teams through the 8 seeds, an "underdog" such as Utah or NO might be interested in taking Vince on if all they have to give up are draft picks. I mean hell....we were We got Vince for chump change, but if blowing the team up is something that the team really wants to do, then we may be forced into that situation on the other side, what with the market for him fairly low. Any GM who'd give a 30+ year old player a 4 year $60M contract should be fired. Hey, sounds like Ben Wallace to me.
