Never good when a player plays through the period, but then sits out after the break...usually means they found something.

Figure that is 4 weeks +/-. Miller/Etem need to step up now (know it won't be Kreider). Says he has some broken ribs. Not the end of the world in late November. Sure he will be back by the new year +/- (5 weeks from today is Jan 1).

BTW...saw Julien said Hank acted on the interference call. That is comical to me. Are all these French Canadian coaches whiny bit*hes? I mean Marchand CLEARLY skated right into Hanks head in the crease. Whether Hank went down or not doesn't matter...it was a clear ZERO debate penalty. I hate whiny bitc*es. That's why I like AV...he never whines.

Sadly the Rangers play like frightened children against this team. It had been going on for years.

59 games left. Hopefully they will get their act back together. Figure Stepan misses 15 or so games. Time to get our sh*t together.

Depends on how bad the ribs are broken, what ribs are broken, etc. Could be 4 weeks could be 8 weeks.

Yep. Just got back from a wedding and saw the replay. A couple of broken ribs on absolute cheap shot with no call well after stepan got rid of puck. Doesn't seem possible none of the 4 blind mice out there saw this and the asshole ref compounds it with the god damn instigator penalty and misconduct instead of just patting dylan on the back after he kicked the shit out of the cheap shot artist. Kreider makes that hit and its 5 and a game misconduct. Absolute joke with these refs already. Dylan did absolutely the right thing and only too bad dylan only gave him a black eye instead of breaking his fucking jaw. Sather if he's got any juice left with this league better be on the phone raising hell with the league office and this god damn instigator penalty and addl misconduct that only penalizes the team of the player that gets crushed needs to be eliminated.

Yeah, AV never whines. Great. AV just stands there chewing his gum while his team gets the worst of every whistle. Someone needs to wake his ass up before Nash is next out on a cheap shot. He needs to start going after these fucking refs same as the other coaches or he's going to start losing his teams respect.

I would be surprised if he missed 8 weeks with a couple of broken ribs, but we'll see. I would expect 15-20 games tops. Shouldn't be a huge issue in late November, but who knows. Can Miller or Etem step up?

The rule is what it is mel. They should allow the ref on the ice some discretion regarding the misconduct, but that's the rule. Is what it is.

Okay mel, you can whine and think the Rangers get jobbed by the refs, and AV will be a man and know that at the end of the day things usually even out, despite the fact that fans living in the moment never see it.

How would we all have felt if Kreider was on the Habs and knocked Hank out of the ECF...yeah we all know that answer.

Funny i thought the mear fact that dylan was in the game, NEVER MIND ACTUALLY ON THE ICE, that these types of hits wont happen anymore....the deterent didnt deter a fucking bullshit late hit and now our top or 1a center is out weeks.....

That's funny Al. If Mac wasn't playing today and that happened we would get post after post about how the hit doesn't happen if Mac was playing.

Injuries are part of sports. If we cannot survive 15 regular season games +/- without Stepan we have bigger issues, especially since we are currently in 1st place.

Actually relieved with that diagnosis. Was thinking head injury for sure.

This team has the fewest man games lost to injury in the entire league, so it was bound to happen eventually. He'll be ok by mid Jan id say.

I agree and disagree. There comes a time where you DO have to rip into the refs and point out a bad call or a missed call. This will typically get you a make up call later. There's also nothing wrong with, after a hit like this, calling out the NHL and the refs in the media. It was a blatantly late hit that resulted in an injury. Should be a 5 game suspension. Difference with the Kreider play is he gets tripped making a hockey play, but then does nothing to avoid the goalie after getting tripped. Stepan gets hit when he has already released the puck and there is no hockey play being made there, just a cheap shot that leads to injury.

Then you have idiots like Pierre Mcguire blaming Stepan for admiring his pass. There's nothing a player who gets blindsided can do in that situation. To me it's the same as a hit from behind.

I agree with that 94. But that isn't whining about refs, that is saying something like "to me that looks like an illegal hit. The refs made the call and we need to live with it, but it looked illegal to me and IMO something the league should look at. Plays like that are the types of plays we are trying to get out of this league".

That is very fair and smart.

And no shot that is a 5 game suspension. We need to keep it in context. Late hit for sure, but not a head shot or a slew foot. I could see a good fine or maybe 1 game...maybe 2...but no way is that a 5 game suspension.

Just looked at the schedule. If Step is back on Jan 1 he misses 15 games. He misses 19 games if he is back Jan 14 against the Isles.

I say he misses 16 games +/- unless we hear something crazy about the injury.

But see, that the problem. It's a hit that the NHL needs to take out of the game. I'm still waiting to see Malkin or Subban suspended for a slew foot. It'll never happen. Hitting a guy, blindsided, late and causes injury should 100 be a 5 game suspension. That's why the NHL is a joke. He won't even get a fine. But Kreider got a suspension for a "boarding" hit when he was 5 feet from the boards. CONSISTENCY. Welcome to the NHL, where this word does not exist.

Well said by AV. Pretty much what I said.

Vigneault said on ESPN Radio, "In our opinion it was a late hit, more than a second and he was a couple of feet away from the boards. I remember in this building, Aaron Rome .6 seconds late getting suspended four games in the SCF. Step broke some ribs so he will be out indefinitely."

Still don't see that long of a suspension, but who knows.

That is direct and to the point and not whiny.

Ribs usually heal quick. I doubt they're that bad considering he played afterwards. Will miss some time sure but it's usually not a 6-8 week thing. Steve Smith Sr. of the Ravens was back in two weeks earlier this year.
