    VITALS: 6-8, 215, Massachusetts

OVERVIEW: Became just the third player in NCAA history to record four triple-doubles in a single season as a senior, joining California's Jason Kidd (1993-94) and Drexel's Michael Anderson (1985-86). Surpassed current NBA player Marcus Camby as Massachusetts' all-time leader in blocks, finishing tied for 18th in NCAA history with 399. Finished career second in field goal percentage for UMass (.595). Named the Atlantic 10 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year. Recorded school record for most blocks in a single season (168). Ranked second in the NCAA in blocks (5.1 bpg). Had 23 points, 15 rebounds and a school record-tying 11 blocks vs. George Washington. Named the A-10 Defensive Player of the Year for the first time as a junior, finishing third in the nation in blocks (3.9). Placed second in the A-10 in blocks (2.57) as a sophomore. Spent three seasons playing for the African Republic of Gabon's national team (2000-2003).

LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: Early second-round pick with slight chance of cracking the first round.

    COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Bo Outlaw

    COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Kendrick Warren

ROLE PROJECTION: Unique shot-blocking abilities despite modest height for frontcourt.

POSITIVES: Lasme is an uncommon shot-blocker who is even shorter than Ben Wallace but shares Wallace's ability to exhibit perfect timing to block shots without fouling. Blocking five shots per game at any level will arouse interest, but Lasme blocked plenty of shots against other high-level draft prospects at the Portsmouth Invitational and the NBA Pre-Draft Camp. He is able to maintain his spot on the floor until the shooter is releasing the shot. At that point, Lasme explodes off the floor and blocks the shot. He does not go for head-fakes.

SHORTCOMINGS: Lasme is a raw offensive player. He tends to rush when he gets the ball in the post and often travels or loses the ball. He also has a very thin frame, and it might not be easy for him to set up on the block in the NBA without being pushed off his spot. At 215 pounds, Lasme is very thin for a power forward and even though he has wiry strength, won't be able to guard the stronger power forwards. He's also already 24 years old, which some teams might hold against him.
