Steven Jackson who plays for the Hawks has reported he is opting out of his 2 year deal. He is a small forward that is listed at 6-8, averaging 15.8ppg is opting out of his $2.1m deal. He would be a great pickup for this team I think. What do you guys think? I could used $3m out of Damp's contract to sign him and use the other $4m to resign Foyle and or Cardinal.

Sure....but the Warriors team has too many people who play the positions he plays.

He is a good player with experience. He has a good range, good passer, etc. He would be a great pickup for any team.I think he is opting out because he wants to win.So any good teams could sign him.

We have seen what this guy is capable of when he was playing for the Spurs. The guy is young and athletic and is full of potential. I guess it all comes down to Dunleavy. This team seems set on Mike and they want him to be our future.

    The real question is

What are you willing to offer?

We have Dunleavy. Let's not get too trigger happy. Is Stephen Jackson the difference between where the Warriors are going and somewhere else? Probably the fastest way to unnecessarily using up cap space. Look at the Spurs, they moved on with Turkoglu and they have not skipped a beat. He's okay but not a difference maker. Pass.

I would probably not like Stephen Jackson merely to the fact that if you watch him play he turns the ball over and just is not a great defender. Defense is exciting to me because that's what causes key rallies, fastbreaks and Warrior scoring runs on the offensive end. Nothing is better than hearing the crowd cheer as the opposing coach has to take a timeout.

Also I think he just wants a bigger contract, I remember he wanted a bigger contract from the spurs, but they turned him down and ended up signing for less in Atlanta.

    I don't think he's worth.

Anyone can basically score if the execution is right. I'd rather have all defenders with two guys that can really create by putting the ball on the floor, shooting, and passing.

This guy is a good player but nothing too special. He has his moments on offensive and can really ignite a team but he makes too many mental mistakes IMO. Lets give Dunleavy time to develope and to become the player he is capable of.

I think Dunleavy has way more potential. He's a smarter player, and IMO, Jackson is one-dimensional. Pretty much all I saw him do with the Spurs was shoot and hit the occasional three, and that wasn't really impressive to me.

Well if Chris Mullin likes him and is willing to work one on one with him to get him to at least the level Mullin was on his 2nd year by next year. I'm happy. Dunleavy certainly has flashes of being the great scorer he was touted to be, but on defense how is going to learn to play it being so slow.

I think Dunleavy might be good some day, but I think Jackson can be better. He is better right now, and I think he will be better in the future. He is a lot more athletic than Dunleavy and I think he has showed he can play defense when he was on the Spurs who had the best defense in the league. Is he a difference maker, possibly. I think if we can not get a good free agent like Kenyon Martin, who by the way is averaging almost 18ppg and 10reb then Jackson would be a good 2nd tier free agent signing. He is better than Chaney too. Chaney leaves, and Jackson fills the spot. Even if Jackson want $5m per year, that is what Boykins is making right now. I think he would be a steal at $5m per year. That is almost what Adonal makes per year. And Avery Johnson.
