<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In an interview with the Port Arthur News, Stephen Jackson said of his future plans, "Hopefully be back in San Antonio".

Jackson, who played for the Spurs Championship team in 2003, spent the last season playing for the Atlanta Hawks where he averaged 18.1 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.1 assists.

With forward Bruce Bowen not picking up his player option, it is estimated the Spurs will have $13 million to $15 million in salary cap space this summer, if they renounce the rights to both Bowen and Hedo Turkoglu.

If I were the Spurs GM, I would sleep on it. I'd try to go after someone like Tracy McGrady or Vince Carter first. If that were not the case, then I would go after Stephen Jackson. Jackson finally realizes that money isn't everything and winning is more important. He learned his lesson playing on the Hawks. [IMG]

It's not really worth doing as I doubt there will ever be a deal Orlando or Toronto would be interested in, neither Tim Duncan or Tony Parker will be available to any team. It's best Going for the safe bet by bringing back Jackson to fill the much needed shooting guard role.

It was clear in the playoffs that was the real weakness

Not hitting down open shots, thats the only reason the Spurs lost to the Lakers.

SJax is a great scorer, he'll really bring some good stuff to the table for the Spurs, lightening the load and improving them. I definitely have to agree, he's better and more well suited than Turgokolu. Plus whenever he's open and has time, he'll make the shot. That'll prove real useful early on. Also they like him over there, his moral support will drive them to be even better.

It's going to be difficult for him to go from being the first/second option on offence with Atlanta to being the third/fourth option on San Antonio. But I hope he learned his lesson from last year though - he rejected a deal with the Spurs because he thought he could get more money on the free agent market but he ended up getting less money.

Well this is kind of shocking because from my understanding part of the reason he walked away from the Spurs offer last offseason was that he knew the Spurs had plans of making Manu the starter, which they were until he got injured early in the season. So why would he want to come play back up for Manu season(season as if he stays with the spurs he will likely be the starter).

Even tho both the shooting guard & small forward spot will be open, I dont think you can start those two together to be honest. Thats way to many turnovers, bad shot selection. The thing that made it work before was that you could switch Manu & Jack. But you always had Bowen who could be more of a stable player in the lineup, so it would off set the crazy play of those two. Its hard to believe that a wild perimeter of just Jackson & Manu would work, especially since Parker is pretty inconsistent at times. And when he starts losing confidence in his own play, he forgets to be a floor general. And thats when guys like Manu & Jack start to do to much.

I have to assume the Spurs will bring Bowen and Manu back to the squad. The Spurs do need another player capable of shooting, but I think Parker and Manu will be even more consistant next season with their offense. The player I'd pursue is Kobe Bryant, Stephen Jackson should be an after thought for the Spurs at this point. The trio of Kobe, Parker, and Duncan would be an amazing force for the next decade in San Antonio.

I think Stephen Jackson got a little cocky last year and he thought he was worth much more than he actually was, so he didn't take the contract the Spurs offered him. That ended up bad and he wound up in Atlanta.

Thats good for the spurs since ginobli is a free agent they need a 2 guard to play that position. Also in atlanta where he was free to play as much as he wanted and do what he wanted on offense he proved he can be a at least 15 point scorer a night if given the chance.

Also it would be better for the spurs to try and aquire a player they are already familier with and knows there offense and they know him then to try and take a risk on tmac or someone who they know nothing about personally. Espcially with the new stories coming up about tmacs work ethic and all that it would be better for them to stick with someone they no then take a risk they really dont have to take.

Also with jakson you got a more then solid 2 guard that wont be tring to do to much for the team. Or wont think he is better than he really is because he already knows that duncan is that teams leader.

You really cant blame the guy the hawks were a young team that he thought he could lead and mabye help make a playoff push resulting in a huge deal the next year when the hawks had cap room. Yes it was stupid of him to leave san antonio but in the end if he goes back there it would have been better for everyone he got to see what he could do on his own and the spurs got a chance to play manu more minutes and let him develope. Plus the spurs got to see what jackson could do and he might get a little more money now that everyone nows what he can do both on defense and offense.

They really should get rid of Hedo what is the point of having a player that shoots nothing but threes and can hardly make any of them. I think Kevin Willis should get a bit more time aswell.
