Stephen Silas leaving for Charlotte Steinmetz says he will be replaced. I wonder who the lucky guy will be? How about Brian Shaw, Jeff Van Gundy, or Rick Barry
I'm starting to worry about you and the sarcasm, DK... Maybe Gary St. Jean will come out of retirement... Maybe we can get a legit head coach and move Smart back to assistant? Or would that be too rude? I don't think it's okay that Silas is leaving the team. I understand he wants to work with his dad, but can't he wait until the offseason? I mean, didn't he make a commitment to the team and the players? If I were a player, I think I'd be a little offended that he is bailing on us. If it were medical, or family (like an emergency), that's one thing. But it doesn't say much about his commitment to his players to just jump ship like this...
Yeah, he did kinda jump ship but at the same time Paul Silas might not be there beyond next year, which means Steve Silas may be up for a head coaching job after that. You gotta do what you gotta do to get ahead in life so I can't blame him for taking the opportunity. It's understandable and I think it happens a lot with assistants.
Heh. Weren't you the one in an uproar over Lacob for nepotism? I'm not in uproar over Stephen Silas because the Warriors let him go. It's a big opp for him and promotion. Silas was a Keith Smart guy. I'd feel different if it was Jerry Sichting who was going. He's a Lacob guy.
Yes I was. Are you calling me a hypocrite? I think hiring your son to be "Dir. of Basketball Ops" straight out of college, as one your first hires as a new NBA owner, is an example of nepotism that carries a lot of controversy and simply looks bad. Paul Silas has basketball credentials and he's probably taught his son a lot about basketball. Kinda like Dell Curry onto Steph Curry/Seth Curry. Joe Lacob has no credentials as a basketball man and he hired his son who has zero credentials except a bunch of internships (impressive as they may be, he probably got a lot of them through connections through his dad...just hypothesizing, but not atypical for a rich businessman doing favors for his family). The Warriors didn't let Silas go. Silas left the Warriors. Not a big deal as you say.
