Shawne Merriman was suspended by the NFL for 4 games for testing positive for steroids. Merriman was supposed to be suspended with Lehr and Rogers earlier in the week, but he appealed. A second test was failed so now Merriman is suspended. How sad it is to see a 22-year old kid who is one of the most promising LBs the league has seen in so long end up being guilty of steroids....The NFL source says that the test showed that it was definitely steroids and not a suplement of some sorts.

Makes sense, the guy is a beast. If they want to stop it they have to improve the testing though. I'm sure these guys know many ways to avoid failing. I wonder what the ratio is for players getting caught to players not getting caught? 1 out of every 200 probably?

That's a little much...NFL has the best testing program of all the other leagues.

Unfortunately, you both could be right.

Its getting easier and easier to see why Dallas passed on Merriman and took Ware. Everytime someone looks at Merriman's stats, they are going to be questioned...even if he is straight from here on out.

If Merriman and all other athletes who "enhance" their bodies to get an edge to play a gamecan live w/ themselves fine. I really don't care.

I can hardly wait for BF1's take. [IMG]

He wasn't looking for an edge, he was cheating. He got caught. Time to pay the piper.

Its a pretty dumb thing by him. I expect his ROY award to be taken away and i would like a longer suspension

The NFL doesn't take awards away. They have no proof that says he was taking steroids last season.

    Well, i hate to disappoint.

First he should be stripped of all his stats to this point. The Chargers should forfeit all games he played in to this point in the season. All the money he made playing football should be taken back, and all his possesions sold. He should be put into black 2" thick iron chains, put into a solitary cell 25 miles beneath the earth's surface, and forced to break rocks all day in 100 degree heat for 20 years. That being said, it isnt as bad as what farve & strahan did.

^ Fair!?!? you it was ''fair'' for him to get an enhancment over the other players i think he should have been stripped of all of the stats he had this season. He also said that he did not know he was taking steroids to Marty(yeah right) 'Oh coach i didnt relize myself getting bigger, stronger, and i didnt notice myself becoming better'
