<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"I spoke to a source to tells me Damon Stoudamire isn't going to Houston or Cleveland and will likely agree to terms with a mystery team sometime in the next 72 hours unless the Blazers get involved in a sign and trade."</div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"However, Houston offered Damon Stoudamire $1.8 million a year and also made a few sign-and-trade proposals to the Blazers -- including Clarence Weatherspoon, Nash said. Now, Stoudamire is thought to be ready to sign with another NBA team, Nash said."</div> <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"Would Nash take, say, power forward Juwan Howard for Stoudamire in a sign-and-trade with the Rockets now? Despite the fact that Howard has four years and $26 million left on his contract? "Our preference has been to not take a contract back if it's going to force us into tax land," Nash said. "Amnesty? Theoretically, that's something that could happen that would avoid tax this year. But it all depends on what's coming back in return." The Rockets haven't offered Howard . . . yet. But with Anderson's status as a fifth wheel, amnesty is looking more like a certainty. Which means we sort of know how this ends. With that in mind, Howard for Stoudamire is a trade the Blazers might actually do."</div> Hoopshype Looks like Stoudamire might not be coming after all (good news for me). So as of now, the only way we can get him is a sign and trade, but we might have to part ways with Juwan Howard- once again leaving our powerforward position vulnerable. In other words, I don't think this will be happening. By the way, to see the articles, you need to scroll down to find Stoudemire's picture, and theres the three Oregonian articles, click those for more info.
Thats too bad. I think the rockets still need a true point gaurd on their team. If stoudamire doesnt sign, they should probably keep pursuing.
It's tough. I don't know if we can afford to give up Howard. At the same time, Stoudamire would be a great pick up. It's toss up. I know one thing, if we can get Stoudamire by just giving up Weatherspoon, that's a GREAT trade no matter the circumstances.
i think we would be better off keeping howard and having our "veteran" backcourt than if we had stoudamire and no back up pf.
Stoudamire is not woth howard and should take a page out of swift book and take less money and quit being stupid...hes already a millionare wtf...
If it takes Howard in order to get DS, then dont expect DS to become a Rocket...I'm surprised that he isnt coming here because I felt the interest between the two sides was strong, but he went for the money...besides, there are still other available options...such as Earl Watson, maybe even Marko Jaric...but DS isnt worth Howard, or anyone else besides Spoon, Moochie, ward or Baker...Unless something drastic changes Stoudamire's mind in who he wants to sign with, I dont see him becoming a Rocket...
Yeah I think we shold forget about Stoudamire. Our team can hold up this season witho ur current backcourt. It was the same as last years and we did well. The trade deadline is a long time away, and we should just bide our time till we can work something out with out precious expiring contracts. And who knows? If we make the right decision, we could come out of nowhere and win a championship next season. The Pistons did it with Rasheed, so maybe we could too. Our only problem is that there isn't only ONE missing piece to the puzzle, so I DOubt the Rox will rid themselves of their problems with one simple trade.
Well we cant get Staudamire anyways, he just joined the Grizzlies http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/s.../bk/bkn/3288811 four-year, $17 million deal
well this isn't the biggest dissapointment imo.....DS would've been nice, but I think our main problem is that we need to get some length in the back court.
