Nash and Stoudemire combination reminds me alot of Stockton and Malone. Two great point guards with two great power forwards. I think that Stoudemire and Nash are almost on the same level as Stockton and Malone and soon will get there. Anybody feel this way two? or notices a big difference with these 2 combos?

Well I didn't get to see Malone and Stockon during the 80's and early 90's, but I did get to see them from about 94-95 on. Amare just attacks the basket more compared to Karl. Karl might of went to the basket more during his earlier years, but Amare almost always goes to the basket. Also, regarding the Nash-Amare Pick-and-Roll combo, Amare at times doesn't seem to set a pick. Instead of going all the way to set a pick, he makes it seem that he's going to set one, and then slid down quickly so he loses his defender where Nash gets him the ball and lets Amare do his thing.

A big difference though between these two combinations is age and longevity. Stocken and Malone have been doing this ever since they became teammates, where as Nash has been in the league for 8 years before his teamming. This is siginificant because he's 31 (30 when they started). While Amare is stil young at 22 (turning 23), Nash only has a few more years in him to play at this level.

well of course, Stoudemire and Malone are different types of power forwards but what im saying is do you gize think that the combination of stoudemire and nash is better or has potential to be better then the combo of malone, and stockton.

stockton and malone were together for practicly their whole nba careers. While Nash and stoudamire have only been together for 1 year and nash is already 31.

although that is true, I meant the greatness of the combination not their careers together.

Oh in that case they are very close to stockton and malone but i dont think at the same level, since stockton and malone are one of the greatest nba duo of all time.

This may be fan-bias but I already think that Amare and Steve will be a better duo than Stockton and Malone. I don't know the numbers, but living in PHX, I get to see them all the time. And I would guess they combined for 30 or so ppg (Amare getting the assist from Nash or Steve scoring off of the pick).

This combination is more effective because Amare is scoring more than Malone did. Plus Steve is a great jump shooter so you either double amare or you double nash and no matter what you one of them is going to score.
