    Notes on the event:

    -- Brett Rogers was the second choice opponent for Fedor Emelianenko's Strikeforce debut--the promotion originally wanted to have him face Alistair Overeem but scheduling conflicts with Overeem (and a desire not to defend his belt) prevented that fight from happening.

    -- Gegard Mousasi will not have his light heavyweight title on the line against Sokoudjou for reasons unknown. Champions fighting in non-title fights were the norm in Japan but are extremely rare stateside unless there is an issue with one or both fighters being off-weight.

    -- Jake Shields and Jason Miller will vie for the Strikeforce middleweight title vacated by Cung Le. Strikeforce originally planned to make them fight for an interim belt but Le showed no desire to return to the cage so he has forfeited his championship.

    -- Cris Santos was expected to defend her women's middleweight title at this show but was forced to withdraw due to injury. Her opponent, Marloes Coenen, faces veteran Erin Toughill instead.

    -- Robbie Lawler and Ronaldo Souza were expected to fight at this event but their bout has been postponed or possibly canceled.

    -- Bobby Lashley was going to debut at this event but his fight with Ron Waterman has been pushed back to the next Strikeforce show.

    -- Lightweight champion Josh Thompson suffered a broken leg in training and was forced to withdraw from a rematch with Gilbert Melendez planned for this show. They may fight early next year.

    -- Former top female contender Gina Carano was expected to fight at this event but does not plan to return to MMA anytime soon.

    Yeah it's on CBS so it'll be free. How much of it they'll show I don't know, but it's not like the prelims are very interesting.


    What is interesting is that EA will debut their new game MMA during the broadcast with some gameplay footage.

    Meh. Always fun to see Fedor but Shields/Miller is probably the only fight that will be competitive. Fedor & Gegard will squash and I expect a snoozer with Silva/Werdum.

    I'd have to say on paper yes.

    Fedor vs Rogers is very likely to be a first round sub. I'm disappointed that they have this fight instead of Fedor-Overeem, which I consider a more legitimate matchup. Even though Overeem hasn't really beaten any top HWs, I think he's a better fighter than Rogers, and that Overeem would be the favourite in an Arlovski fight.

    Even if Fedor-Overeem were to happen in Japan (and Dream President said he wanted to have it in Japan, and Strikeforce and Dream have some kind of co-operation together), then I would be skeptical of Overeem being clean, but I would still like to watch the fight.

    Shields-Miller is a quality competitive matchup. Werdum-Silva I look forward to.

    I really really think it's retarded that Mousasi-Sokoudjou is a non-title fight. That kind of shit really has no justification to me.

    Overeem just came out and said he'd rather fight Fedor over in DREAM rather than Strikeforce, which leads me to believe he is worried about the drug testing over here.

    Probably means we won't be seeing Overeem in the UFC any time soon, because even if the UFC has fights overseas, they still do drug testing. (they plan on doing more Japan cards at some point)

    That is just speculation on my behalf, though.

    I would think he'd rather want to fight @ Strikeforce so he can get more American exposure. Oh well...I don't see a fight between them happening. I still have a slight hope for Fedor in the UFC.
