Re: Summary of Stackhouse's Season Murphy3 from dallas-mavs.com <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>"But, hey..they're easy to please. If you run around like a chicken with your head cut off BUT you have a snarl on your face, they might just have a special treat for ya.Anyways, I'm not quite as thrilled with you as Evil and Madape. But why would my opinion matter more than theirs? Well, I suppose someone could say that it doesn't, so I dug up a few stats to help me out a little.Does anyone remember what happened in February? The Mavs started to get hammered by injuries. But hey, that's ok. Stackhouse is here to pick up the slack. Heaven knows that that is what 6th man of the world candidates do when they're pressed into playing a few more minutes. Surely that's what Stack did, didn't he? I mean, he does have a snarl on his face. His forehead does jut out like he's the missing link. Surely he stepped up and carried the Mavs to victory after victory as Mav players just lined up to sit atop his Pre-Cambrian eyebrows. Can't he dunk it from half court with his eyelid? I don't know. Perhaps I'm wrong and Stack is God's gift to the Mavs and Dallas Mavericks basketball. I mean, he did win a scoring title. And hey, let's not forget the snarl (and the Pre-Cambrian eyebrows). So, what have we established so far?1. I was wrong. Stack is indeed a basketball God.2. Pre-Cambrian eyebrows3. He is the Missing Link4. Carrying the team to victory when the Mavs were hit with the injury bug.5. Madape and Evil have a special treat for Stack.Well, the Pre-Cambrian thing is obvious. There's no questioning that. Is he the missing link? He looks like it. So, I'm not sure that we can investigate that one further here. Do Madape and Evilmav have a special treat for him? I really don't know. You'll have to ask them. What does that leave us with? It leaves us with:1. I was wrong. Stack is indeed a basketball God.4. Carrying the team to victory when the Mavs were hit with the injury bug.Well, let's just take a look at those two. They're the only thing that I can truthfully investigate. Everything else is already proven or cannot be proven within the confines of this thread unless someone has pictures that I guarantee you none of us would like to see.Let's just take a look at how God-like Stackhouse has been since ....oh, the beginning of February sounds good. That is correct, isn't it? Weren't the Mavs hit with the injury bug in February?Well, let's just take a little look. All stats are per game averages.Minutes per game - 31 (yes, he's playing starter's minutes)Field goal attempts per game - 11.6Field goal attempts made per game - 4.4FG% - 38.1% (oh no..that's not good at all..but it gets worse)3pt attempts - 2.43pt made - .53pt% - 22.2% (ouch, that's not good, is it? You'd think he'd make more just by luck, wouldn't you?)Free throw attempts per game - 4.0 (not terrible, but not great by any stretch of the imagination)Rebounds - 3.1 (wasn't Howard out? Shouldn't he have stepped up just a bit on the glass?)Assists - 3.3 (not bad)TO's - 2.4 (ehh)Points - 12.9 (wasn't he supposed to be stepping up with KVH, Harris, and Howard out for significant stretches).Well, you might say 'Murph, those nubmers are pretty damn bad, but how do they compare to what he's done on the season on the whole?'And I'd say 'Why take my opinion for it, just look at the stats'Here's some of his season stats.Minutes per game - 29.1 (yeah, he played a couple more minutes with the injuries than he did before all the injuries)FGA's - 11.0 (so, he shot more when playing more minutes, that makes sense)FGM - 4.4 (so, he made about the same amount of attempts)FG% - 39.9% (Ah, so when it was time to step up with all the injuries, he actually brought his shooting percentage down. It's at 39.9% on the season but only at 38.1% since the first of February. Not good)3pt attempts - 2.43pt made - .63pt% - 27.0% (so, since February he actually shot worse than 27% from beyond the arc? Isn't that hard to do?)Reb's - 2.9 (good job, with the injuries, he raised his rebounding totals .2 per game)Assts - 3.0 (and yeah, he actually raised his assists some slightly by .3)TO's - 2.3 (but, his TO's went up right along with the assists so that wipes that out)Scoring - 13.0 PPG (so, he scored less in more minutes while taking more shots?)Wow, it sure is interesting how Stack's numbers went down almost across the board when the team needed him most. Way to step it up.So, what have we established? We've established that Stack:1. Didn't step his game up with all of the injuries2. has a snarl3. hasn't played well this year in general4. shoots the ball poorly from wherever he is on the court except the FT line.5. thinks much more of himself than what he actually deserves.6. is not a basketball God.7. has not carried the team in any size, shape or form. Are there any other tidbits you could give us Murph? Sure, why not.In the 34 games since the beginning of February, Stack has:1. scored less than 10 points 10 times2. Shot less than 40% from the floor 17 times3. shot less than 30% from the floor 9 times4. shot over 50% only twice5. managed to score 20 or more points only 5 times6. did manage to get to the line 10 times or more 3 times7. had an 8 game stretch where he went 0-14 from beyond the arcand8. has been nothing more than a mediocre basketball player overall this season as well as since the beginning of February. Now, I know some of you can't read. But if you can't read and you're reading this, please ask someone else to read the rest of the post to you. You might just find it interesting."</div>That summarizes up on why I criticize Stackhouse's game. Murphy3 is the man. :worthy: for creating proof on what I already knew.
Re: Summary of Stackhouse's Season Yeah, but if Stack wasn't here, we would only have Daniels at SG...

Care to explain what we would have done without Stack when we had the injuries to Howard/Griff? We would be short on swingmen and probably lost more games.
Re: Summary of Stackhouse's Season We would be in bad shape either way and I guess Marshall and Powell would be forced to play the 3 a lot. I have no problem Stackhouse filling in for injuries but his minutes should be limited now that everyone is healthy.
Re: Summary of Stackhouse's Season Alrite, guys, did you hear Avery's and Cuban's comments?1. What did Avery mean by "internal" leadership? Didn't make much sense to me...2. Cuban said Stack, Dirk, and Jet were the leaders of the team. Yes, STACK, not Daniels.
Re: Summary of Stackhouse's Season What a leader Stack is. Saying Kobe Bryant is the MVP and not Dirk to ESPN.
Re: Summary of Stackhouse's Season Yeah, but after the Spurs game, Terry said, "Thank God for the MVP."Well did he mention Dirk?
Re: Summary of Stackhouse's Season What does Terry saying Dirk is the MVP have to do with Stackhouse saying Kobe was the MVP?
Re: Summary of Stackhouse's Season Well, at least Dallas has two leaders??But dude, Stack must've said SOMETHING about Dirk being an MVP...
Re: Summary of Stackhouse's Season <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>What a leader Stack is. Saying Kobe Bryant is the MVP and not Dirk to ESPN.</div>It shows non bias. And his points make sense. Also, leadership is dictated more then just play on the court. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>But dude, Stack must've said SOMETHING about Dirk being an MVP</div>What?
Re: Summary of Stackhouse's Season Stack just being on the floor gives us another threat, regardless of his shooting percentage or not. He's a vet with leadership and experience. Yes his minutes will be cut some in the playoffs, but I don't think we should stop playing him like some people on here.
