So I signed up thru NBA.com to be able to watch all of the summer league games live, but just like yesterday, today's game is being streamed on ESPN3. Are all summer league games going to be on ESPN3 (in other words, did I waste $15 on NBA.com's stream)?

    Here's the ESPN3 schedule -

    http://espn.go.com/watchespn/index#type/upcoming/search/nba summer/

It appears that today's and yesterday's games were the only ones they'll broadcast, but they also broadcast the new "playoff" games.

    EDIT:

However, I'm just now realizing that with this new format, the Blazers only play three games before the "playoff" rounds, so it looks like you might have paid $15 for the Bulls game on Tuesday, assuming you don't want to watch any of the other teams' games.

I checked and there are 22 Las Vegas teams (and 10 Orlando ones). So your $15 includes at least 1 playoff game.

Got ya'... I'm still trying to figure out this new format...

Do the Vegas teams play the Orlando teams, or do both have separate playoffs?

How can players compete in both leagues these days? Even if they don't compete, most of these schedules seem to overlap.

Either way, I don't get why someone that's into the NBA enough to drop $15 on some summer leagues games wouldn't just spring for a sports package that gets NBA TV. It's become a pretty legitimate channel, like if ESPN only covered the NBA. I don't know ya'lls cable providers in the northwest, but when I was in New Orleans, it was only $7-8 a month for the general sports package, which was well worth it with all the NBA TV we watched, and it would include Red Zone during NFL season.

Yes, now that I look at it, you have to lose 2 playoff games to be out, not 1.

No, there has never been any overlap of the 2 leagues' games, but there have always been a few players who play in both leagues, say, the Atlanta team in one SL and the Laker team in the other SL. And some years, an NBA team fields a team in each SL. This year:

    22 + 10 = 1 D-League All-Stars + 29 NBA teams once + 1 Miami Heat team in each league.

I count 16 Heat players in Orlando and 20 Heat in Las Vegas, including 11 on both squads.

Miami stats from both leagues are on one page.

I'm the same way... that stuff really isn't that expensive, if you're into it. I've caught a lot of shit for wanting to watch the University Games, but it's because I need my basketball fix. If NBA TV has a Bobcats/Bucks game, I'll at least have that on in the background. It's the love of the game.

Yano, I've been sick as a dog these last few days, so I haven't been out around Memphis much... mostly been sleeping and chugging Nyquil like it's my job, but I think the media wants more of a reaction than there'll be.

All my friends were upset about it on social media... I mean, it was a bullshit verdict, all things considered, but the media wants it to turn into Rodney King pt. II.

I don't think people in this area will give the media and America in general the satisfaction of looking at the South as some unruly racially divided area though. I don't think I've heard any black, hispanic, or white friend in the last 48 say they thought it was a good verdict... I think the only time I've seen anyone support George Zimmerman was on this Portland Blazers forum actually...

So is this "tournament" going to be Orlando and Vegas combined?

I know that players have often played for two different teams in the different leagues. Two names that come to mind this year are D.J. Stephens from Memphis and Vander Blue from Marquette.

If the tournament isn't integrated between the leagues, have those players just decided to leave their Orlando teams and compete in the Vegas tournament instead?

The 2 SLs (and their predecessors in other cities) have always had separate final standings. There was never any game between the 2 SLs (such as the best team vs. the best team). I say "best team in the standings" instead of "champion" because this is the first year to have playoffs.

I know that for certain back about 10 years, and I think so back about 15, maybe 20 years. Before that I vaguely remember fly-by-night SLs that accepted anyone and existed on the fumes of tiny profits (Stern has the NBA fund them now). A few NBA players would play to keep in shape and increase attendance.

The 2 SLs used to have a week or two between them, but now one starts when the other ends. They don't want to compete for media attention, so there's no overlap, so a player in both doesn't have to skip games.

The annual playground event that became known nationally was the Rucker League. Using his profits, Mr. Rucker became a scholarship power in Harlem, so he was bid bon voyage with a case of cancer at age 39 in 1965. That was still the premiere SL throughout the 70s.

I don't watch ESPN, and never watched NBA TV when I had it. Do you actually watch the talk shows?

I watch ESPN 0 to 2 times a week during the NBA season if I want to watch a random game.

During the summer, ESPN is blocked at my place.
