OK, so we saw two movies this weekend. First up, Aloha by Cameron Crowe. With Jerry Maguire, Say Anything, and Almost Famous, it's hard not to root for Cameron Crowe, but wow was this movie a stinker. The dialogue was silly, only to be outdone by the non-believable characters. No one did anything that made sense. You know a movie is going to be bad when it has to begin with a 2 minute voiceover, telling you what is going on. But San Andreas was a fantastic popcorn movie. A perfect summer, big action flick. You see anything good - or bad - recently?
So far... Good: Mad Max (A+++), Avengers (B), Pitch Perfect (C+) and San Andreas (C+) Bad: Poltergeist (D). I am bias towards Superheros and The Rock though. Poltergeist was just... I didn't enjoy it. Wasn't scared in the least... I cannot wait till the Conjuring 2 comes out though.
Saw Entourage tonight. Pretty entertaining movie actually. Plot was very weak/shallow but funny and entertaining. Too many useless celeb cameos though though.
Mad Max: Fury Roas is high are. Should I still see Aloha because I love Cameron Crowe movies (I even liked Elizabethtown) despite all the horrible reviews including the comments in this thread?
So should you see Aloha, despite the reviews? That movie was so implausible, so indecipherable that it actually made me mad. To each his own however. But it does beg the question: Do you trust/use reviews in your movie going decisions? I do. Uniformly bad, or good, reviews are a sign.
I saw the upcoming Terminator Genisys movie yesterday. Actually not bad. Probably my favorite since T2.
The trailer for terminator looked awful to me. Glad it may be ok. I liked the one with Christian Bale. So if it is better than that movie, then I will definitely watch it in the theater. Saw Pitch Perfect 2. It was ok. I would give it a B-.
