<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">San Antonio coach Gregg Popovich insisted that after the championship rings were handed out, his players would wipe last season from their memories and think only of the games ahead. Well, the jewelry was distributed before Tuesday night's opener against Phoenix, and the Spurs seemed to forgot too much too soon. But with time almost gone, they remembered how to win. Anthony Carter's offensive rebound with 28 seconds to play lifted the Spurs to an 83-82 victory in a game in which San Antonio trailed by as many as 15 points in the opening minutes and led for a total of 46 seconds. Carter, starting in place of the injured Tony Parker, helped seal the win with his defense on Stephon Marbury on the final possession. "It was looking real ugly at the beginning but we knew we had a 48-minute game," said Carter, who finished with 10 points and six assists in his first game as a Spur. "Everybody just stayed focused and did their job." Marbury, who finished with 24 points, tried to isolate Carter, but the Suns point guard could manage only an awkward 18-foot jumper with about nine seconds remaining. Marbury got his own rebound and missed another jumper that was rebounded by the Suns' Penny Hardaway, who missed a 14-footer. The ball was being batted around when time expired.</div> Full Story Box Score

Johnson was terrible...didn't look like he wanted to be out there...no confidence and bricked everything...
Actually I think quite the contrary. Johnson was showing a lot of confidence in the shots he took, which is why he took as many as he did. In the past after he missed his first three he would avoided touching the ball at all costs. Yesterday he was still attacking, still trying to find his shot, still in the flow of the game. Bad shooting nights happen, hopefully he won't let this game bother him.
Hey guys, a newbie here to this site but not to Suns talk. Nice looking site. As for the Suns it's looking like they are poised for a good season. They let the Spurs squeak by them, beat the Cavs who look like they are definitely going to improve with Lebron over last year and almost beat the Lakers. They probably won't be playing for the Championship this year but I can see them going to the second round this year and next year they will have enough cash to hopefully snag a quality big man and possibly contend. Talk on other Suns sites seems to be revolving around JJ, Penny and who should be starting. JJ was named starter but came out cold in his first two games sparking even more debate. Both had good games against the Lakers. Jake Voskhul for being young and undersized for a Center has played above most expectations except maybe the Suns who signed him to a long contract. Of course Shaq just brushed him aside like a rag doll but then again he does that to just about everybody that doesn't want to be called for a foul for being in Shaqs way.
Welcome to JBB Nodack, you seem like a very talented poster, glad to have you here. I picked up Jake Voskhul in our fantasy league, because I figured he is good for 8 boards a game, of couse I did not play him against the Lakers though. I loom forward to seeing more of your posts. King James
The Suns looked great last night against the Lakers. Marbury did a great job of initiating the offense and creating wide open shots for Amare. Shawn Marion missed an easy put back near the end of the game, but I have to admit the Suns gave my Lakers a run for their money. The Suns are going to be very exciting once Guggs and Brevin Knight come off the books. Adonal Foyle or Stromile Swift should be targets for them in the off-season.
