<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The Phoenix Suns are rumored to be offering forward Shawn Marion, swingman Joe Johnson, center Jake Voskuhl and their first-round draft pick to the Orlando Magic for guard Tracy McGrady. </div> Link Honestly I think this is the best deal the Magic will ever get for him. Not sure T-mac is worth all that certainly when you consider the way Joe Johnson played since the Marbury trade. It could work out very well for both sides. Orlando would be more balenced If they draft Emeka and have Marion on the wing with JJ playing the two guard, the Suns meanwhile would have one of the most deadly duo's in the NBA with Mcgrady and Amare and to think Amare still has plenty to improve on. He was a 25 and 11 guy in the last two months of the season just wait till he improves that jump shot and gains a few more posts moves. Scary thought.
i would do that trade if i was the magic, too bad they got a hockey puck running their team that doesn't know what depth can do for a nba team. i would try and bait barbosa as well.
wow, magic will do it in a heart beat, the suns give up too much, the martix(top five small forward), JJ(shows great potiental), Jake Voskuhl(great role player) and a first round pick(7th pick overall) they can have a great starting five because of the trade and they only give up T-Mac? Plus the salary wont work for sure.
Why Joe Johnson? He has such great potential and been having a good year. I understand Voskuhl, also why Marion? McGrady may be better in some areas but this kid is dynamite. He has such an awesome rebounding ability because of his hops. That alone is a reason to keep him. A major board player. Any improvements to his offense could up him to McGrady's level. Edit: I forgot to mention it's avid affect on the Magic, silly me. Anyways, like AllNet said I think they'd take it straight away. They're just too young and too bad to not accept any offers. I mean come on, Shawn Marion, undersized scorer and rebounder. 6'7" and averaging double for boards? Geez.
IMO this trade will benefit both teams. I mean, assuming orlando gets top 3 (very likely) or the number 1 draft pick, they will get a big man and build around him with players like marion and johnson, that already sounds great. There was a thread (i think) earlier about amare and how much he admires TMac so i'm pretty sure the chemistry will be fine between them. That will be a very good duo, both young (especially amare) and athletic. I really hope this trade works out.
Marion could lead the East in rebounds if traded, and Joe Johnson can be good for at least 15ppg. And Jake Voskuhl is obviously an upgrade over Andrew Declerq. For the Suns, a Tracy McGrady/Amare Stoudamire pair is intriguing, they can average 50ppg together. It'd work for both teams.
I hope the Suns won't do this kind of trade,It would certainly draw more fans to the arena but Marbury wasn't only traded because the Suns needed a change. He was traded on the same purpose Ricky Davis was traded from Cleveland to Boston,in Cleveland it was for LeBron and in Phoenix it was for Amare. So McGrady takes like 27-31 fg attempts, that's allmost like Marbury and the Matrix are still there. If Orlando get Marion,Johnson and a pick they will be one of the best teams around the league. C-Okafor (If they get the 1st pick) PF-Gooden or Howard SF-Shawn Marion SG-Joe Johnson PG-Pick recived from Phoenix?
The Magic would definitely better with 2 allstars, or 1 allstar and a future allstar. Joe Johnson and Shawn Marion are great players and would turn this franchise around. IF i was the Magic i would take it in a heartbeat. McGrady and Amare,........... whoa!!!
When I first saw this, I didn't like it. But now that I think about it, it would be a decent trade. And If Kobe ends up in Phoneix, it will be crazy! C- Zarko Cabarkapa PF- Amare Stoudemire SF- Tracy McGrady SG- Kobe Bryant PG- Leandro Barbosa That would be awesome
This would be an amazing trade for Orlando. Marion is one of the most underrated players in the NBA and Johnson is on his way up in terms of talent. In the Suns case I would not want to do this trade because I think they are giving up a little too much for Mcgrady. They would have an amazing PF SG duo in Stoudamire and Mcgrady but they are losing out on two potential all stars in Johnson and Marion. Bringing Marion over to Orlando would definitely boost their defence. Adding Okafor in the draft would make them a dangerous pair on D.
I agree with CourtVision. The Suns are giving up too much. Not only are they giving up they're future such as Marion, Johnson and possibly Emeka Okafor, Jameer Nelson etc.. BUT bringing Tracy McGrady to the Suns could possibly hurt Amare Stoudemire growth aswell. Amare Stoudemire has TONS of potential to be one of the leagues Top 5 players in the near future. A player like Tracy McGrady and his selfish type of play could hurt the possibility of that happening. I believe they would be a good combination, but Amare won't be as good due to the fact that Tracy McGrady might be doing most of the scoring and taking more of the game into his hands. For the Suns sake, don't do it.
apparently mcgrady and amare have some personal problems with each other. amare went to the same high school as tmac for a few month and they had some problems with each other. amare even admitted it in a chat on nba.com last year...... too bad i cant find the link right now but im pretty sure a lot of u will knwow this since it has been reported elsewhere too....
Good trade I think. The Magic get a whole crap load of talent for just one player. In my opinion, that's almost a steal for them if this were to go down. But, yea, only thing is I think, will the salary work out each way.
i wouldn't do it if i were the Suns, Johnson has a chance to become a special player...the Suns should give him some more time to develop a little more
I am dreading this because I think it's so stupid it's going to happen. The suns trade three of this years starters plus a draft pick for 1 freaking player!?! It's obsurd. No player is worth all that, especially if they get Kobe in the offseason. There isn't enough ball for Amare TMAc and Kobe! I love to watch TMac's game and would like to see him on the suns if Kobe doesn't come but for crying out loud this is one sided! Marion and Amare is a front court you don't mess with and JJ is all star potential. Voskuhl IS an excellent role player as well, plus who knows who we could get in the draft? ... makes me sick to think about all the lost talent just for one showboater
well there's no way that they're going to get Kobe and McGrady...for one thing they both play the same position and have very similar games....they both need the ball a lot so it'll be difficult if not impossible to co-exist with each other they'll either get one or the other but definately not both
the colangelos are notorious for being drawn in by superstars over developing quality talent... I'm almost tempted to bet they'd try it
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting panfolk:</div><div class="quote_post">the colangelos are notorious for being drawn in by superstars over developing quality talent... We have to put an astyerik next to Tracy's last season. He wasnt the same guy we know him to be. Just got too disappointed. But i think he is going to comeback with a lot of fire and own the league. A lot of people dont notice this but Tracy played his basketball when he was with Grant Hill. He averaged 33 points and shot over 50% from the feild. and he didnt even handle the ball a lot. he thrives with other great players and will wiht amre. he is also a great passer and finds people in the post easily. just that in orlnado he had no post players. all that being said giving up joe johnson and shawn marion is too too too much for any player in the league. Whoever thought of it was stupid. Ithink it should be tracy mcgrady for shawn marion and a first round pick. But i really think Tracy will end up in washington this year.
