On the ESPN boards there is a rumor that the Raptors will send Lamond Murray and Eric Montross to the Suns for Googs and Williams. Has anyone else heard about this? What do you guys think of this if it does go through?
I don't get it though. The Suns wouldn't have any use for Murray, so he would just be unhappy. We don't need another player who feels he should have a bigger role than he actually does (see: Penny Hardaway). So that would just be a waste of a roster spot. Googs' contract comes off the books after this season so I don't see why getting another expiring contract would make a difference. AZ: His contract is for two more years totalling $10 million
Maybe the Suns are planning to also move Penny before the deadline. Then Murray could be backup for Marion. And Montross will be another white center on the IL ala Tranbanski
Air Canada said Montross is retired so what the Suns do with him won't matter. Zarko is going to be the backup for Marion, Murray would then be the backup for JJ if the Suns do move Penny. Either that or they would just not use Murray and force CJ to backup JJ, which I wouldn't like one bit.
He's just too erratic for my taste. Not very trustworthy to have in the game late, which sometimes the Suns do put him in late in the game while the Suns are still in it. His D is decent, but he can pick up some stupid fouls real easily. Also, most of the time when he goes in it means the Suns are playing small ball and I just despise that.
