<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Knicks and Suns have agreed to a multiplayer trade Monday that would return Stephon Marbury to his hometown. New York would acquire Marbury, Penny Hardaway, and Cezary Trybanski from Phoenix for Antonio McDyess, Howard Eisley, Charlie Ward, Maciej Lampe, the rights to Milos Vujanic, and cash. The Suns also would receive two first-round draft picks -- the Knicks' first-round pick in the 2004 draft, which is unprotected, and a future conditional first-rounder, ESPN.com has learned. If the deal is finalized, it would then require the NBA's approval.</div> Full Story
I don't know what I think about this trade. McDyess is never healthy, but Penny can't seem to stay consistently healthy either. Starbury is the key guy here, I think NY benifits from this the most. But honestly I don't know what to think of it.
McDyess/Amare... Do the suns plan on playing one of these guys at center and Marion at SF. If so who is gunna past this post squad the ball... I see no logic in the Suns thinking... trading their best player for a player who has yet to prove he is back to his old form. Thomas is reversing the Scott Layden effect, and fast.
this has to prove that steph, though talented, is selfish, and not a team leader. talent wise, hes a guy you can build around, but every time someone tries, he gets traded

I mean it is pointless to have McDyess and Amare on the same team. They both play the same position and Amare is the future while McDyess has seen better days. This trade is mindboggling to me. The Suns must have something else lined up. I mean this is crazy.
Marbury is far from selfish,he has been known in the past for not being a team guy but the last few years his performances from been very impressive. He was even mentioned as an MVP contender last season...He is the 2nd best point guard in the league that gets over 8 assists a game. Only reason suns did this Both Dice and Ward's contracts come off the books at the end of the season. They must be very high on Milos Vujanic to make this trade.Clearing cap room has been what they have been looking to do since the off-season They have basically given up on their season already. Those are the only two reasons why Suns would do this.In the long run this MIGHT work out well for them.
what is up with the suns? I mean throwing in the white flag or what? if that's the case then heck.. trade us the cavaliers amare for our center Z who were trying to trade. it'll give u a 7 footer and us a nice athletic big man to go with lebron. We'll even throw in d. miles for u.

I mean this team was a suprsing, yet deserving, playoff contender. Yea they might have had a bad season, but they could have picked up another young talent in the draft... and developed Amare into the next great/good PF in the West and ran. Did Scott Layden get the GM job in Phoenix or something.

Don't forget they also got two first-round draft picks, and cash. Dyess will be a good backup to Amare while Marion remains the SF. It's not as bad as people think, but they did throw in the towel on the season, that is for sure.

McDyess would be coming off the bench for Amare. But damn, this trade is something beyond unexpected. New York just got an All Star and a former All Star who's still a decent player for a has-been, basically. No disrepect to McDyess, though. Isiah Thomas is building a powerful team out in New York, while the Suns won't even be in the playoff race this year.

this would hurt the Suns this season definitely...that's a no-brainer...but they did free up some space and if they can get Kobe...then it wouldn't be bad at all...
Sunsfan, here is your answer to Pheonix's cap situation. Its solved. Analysis to come later. But from the 'first looks' of this, I understand why Phoenix would do this. And dexter, the redundancy with McDyess and Stoudamire is of no concern. After this year, that won't be the case.

Phoenix didn't do that trade to bank on signing the most coveted FA.

AS caliber player, top 15, for a benchie. Cap or not... this team last year was a few shots away from a 2nd round apperance and a good draft pick away from being very dangerous in the west. I am very dissapointed.
