<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The Suns worked out their final draft candidates Thursday with a group that affirmed the team's perplexing position.

They saw three prospects for Wednesday's first round - Senegal's 7-foot Saer Sene, Ukraine's 6-foot-10 Oleksiy Pecherov and Temple 6-6 point guard Mardy Collins. The big men may be in the range of Phoenix's 21st pick, while Collins fits more at its 27th slot.

All have intrigue with Sene's striking mobility and a reach into the net, Pecherov's smooth shot and Collins' size. But as the Suns consider trades to move up, can any of them fill a need for immediate depth and help for a 2007 title run?

Sene's potential would be hard to pass. The one-year pro showed he is "two or three years away for sure," Suns coach Mike D'Antoni said, in a two-on-two workout. But David Griffin, Suns vice president of basketball operations, said his game play differs notably.

"With great exposure, he plays much more aggressive," said Marco Crespi, Suns director of international scouting.

Sene, 20, said he does not want to be drafted and left overseas. His speed and shot blocking fit Suns' needs.

He said he could "play and develop at the same time. . . . I know I can defend any player in the league. On offense, I have to work hard."

Pecherov, 21, is slender but agile with strong legs. D'Antoni has long known of his shooting ability because Pecherov's coach once was D'Antoni's assistant in Italy. Griffin said Pecherov has a "Tom Chambers-like skill set without the same verticality."</div>
