All Blacks flanker Adam Thomson scored a try in each half of a rain-swept Super 14 rugby match Friday as the Otago Highlanders beat the New South Wales Waratahs 26-10. Thomson was at the heart of a superb forward performance which gave Otago the advantage in a match played in strong winds and torrential rain. Fellow backrower Steven Setephano also scored a try for Otago, which could have ended New South Wales' chances of reaching the tournament semifinals. Otago took a 12-10 lead into halftime after winning the toss and playing into the wind, then sealed the win with 16 unanswered points in the second half, including Thomson's second try and three Matt Berquist penalties.
