SFL 1 Quick Results: Xavier Foupa-Pokam def. Joey Guel by TKO (Doctor Stoppage) Jimmy Ambriz def. Satish Jha by TKO Lakwinder Sekhon def. Madura Rathnayake by TKO (punches) Mohd Shahid def. Mayura Dissanayake by Split Decision Chaitanya Gavali def. Tiran Thakshala by Unanimous Decision Travis Bell def Neil Natasadu by Submission Sanja Sucevic def. Lena Ovchynnikova by Submission James Thompson def. Bob Sapp Submission (Injury?)
Bob Sapp was slightly less terrible than he has been recently but the result was (Goldy voice) virtually identical!
Sapp (Tapp?) is 5-19 since 2005 in all competitions. It was his fifth MMA loss in a row (2-9 in his last 11). If you look at his Wiki page someone has edited it to say "Sappmission" every time Sapp has tapped-out, which is many times, now. His loss to Thompson here is just inconceivable. Maybe the camera angle was no good but there was no reason at all for him to tap out at that point. Just peculiar.
Hope Herb Dean got a nice bump for his trip to Mumbai. Can't imagine he would've gone otherwise. I didn't watch the whole show but apparently the crowd was mortified at times, especially when blood/G&P was involved.
I guess the SFL is a real thing for now and they are going ahead with a seven (!) shows, including the this last one. SFL 2 is scheduled for April 2nd and is expected to be headlined by Todd Duffee vs. Neil Grove, with Minowaman, Shlemenko, and Paul Kelly signed on to fight on the card as well. SFL is a traveling show within India with events scheduled in the largest metropolitan areas including Bombay, New Delhi, Madras, Bangalore, and Calcutta (an Indian friend has asked me not to use the "new" city names, eg. Mumbai).
