You heard it here first. I just got back in my time machine from Sunday, February 1st, 2004.

Yeah, it's a bold statement because the Patsies look unstoppable, but I'm willing to take the beating in this thread on the off chance I'm right. [IMG]

Cool, the only thing better than this bold prediction would be reasons why you believe they will win, that is if you really do believe they will win?

Im looking forward to the game because I prefer defense to offense, but I believe the majority of the veiwing public is gonna be bored stiff for 3 quarters....1,2,3 Punt....1,2,3, Punt, back and forth with the occasional FG mixed in....I wouldnt be suprised if the final was 9-6 in OT....It will make for fantastic drama, because I dont think either offense is capable of pulling away from the other teams defense....and I think Carolina wins in the end, they just appear to be destined, like the 2001 Pats...

Curse you, Sports Illustrated! They just put Carolina on the cover... As if the odds weren't already stacked against them!

    I think they'll win, because...

    1. Worst to first angle is the trend these past 10 years
    2. Jake Delhomme? Who? (Reminiscent of Tom Brady? Who?)
    3. John Fox will have the Panthers ready
    4. Watch for the first "bad bounce" game this year for the Pats... A fumble here, a pick there, a muffed punt there.

Truth be told, I have NO IDEA what's going to happen in this game. Defensive struggle? Shootout? I can't wait to see how it all unfolds.

I love it. Everyone wants to be the one that "called it" if an upset occurs. I understand there is no fun in picking the favorite but sometimes you got to just realize that this time the favorite will win. I understand everyone wants to believe that Carolina is the pats of 2001 all over but there is a Major difference. The 2001 pats met a offense first, high powered, finess team in the superbowl and as history has proven year in and year out Defense always wins. That might as well been a lock for us. The panthers aren't meeting a team that they can push around and the Pats are not a team with a weaker defense.

pack attack I especialy like the line "John Fox will have the panthers ready." What the pats won't be ready?

I do think this will be a tough game but I honestly don't see how they are going to score on us. We can spread it out all day on the panthers and they won't be able to slow us down. The pass rush will not have the time with brady getting rid of the ball quickly and if they blitz they will get burned. The trouble the pats will run into will be inside the 20 so I won't be surprised to see another 3 or 4 FG's from viniteri.

Our offensive line has played solid all season and i'd argue the titans front four are just as good as the panthers and tenn did not touch brady. Brady has not been sacked yet in the playoffs and has faced two of the games best pass rushers in Kerse and freeny. This is all because of brady's ability to get rid of the ball in a hurry. You can't jam all 5 receivers.

Dude, I was born in Rhode Island. If there is such a thing as a "second team," the Pats would be mine. I was devastated when they lost to the 85 "Monsters of the Midway." I was a huge Bledsoe fan when he was there...

Truth be told, I'm just HOPING the Panthers win for no other reason than I don't think I could sleep at night if Tom Brady had more Superbowl rings than Brett Favre. [IMG]

Addendum: What I meant by "John Fox will have the Panthers ready" is simply this: the Panthers have never been to the big show before and Fox will keep their heads in the game. They won't be awestruck by the "unstoppable Patriots." Belichick will have the Pats ready, too. That is a certainty. But I think it's a bit easier to do that when you've rattled off 14 straight wins or so and everyone thinks they're a lock to win. But, as they say, "that's why they play the game."

I have no interesting in being the one who "called it."

You could argue it but you would be wrong....the Panthers have the best front 7 in football, thier front 4 is far superior to the Titans, becuase they have disruptive ends and tackles....ill say the same thing I said about the Eagles, if you think this game is gonna be a pushover, or that the Panthers arent capable, you will be sadly mistaken....the Panthers match up well with the Patriots becuase of the most important "P" word in the football vocab.....PATIENCE....the Panthers have no problem punting, they will stay with the run no matter what....the Patriots thrive on causing panic but the Panthers will not panic, no matter what you do to them...

That would be fine with me if they stay with the run beef because nobody has run on us all season and I don't expect it to change now. Also I'll take our front seven of Bruschi, Vrabel, Phifer, McGinnest, Seymour, Washington, Hamilton any day over the Carolina front 7. Does 14.9 points per game mean anything? The only reason everyone is calling them the best front 7 is cus they are hot noone was saying that when they were backing into the playoffs. They lost three straight to Philly, Dallas, and Atlanta then barely beat detroit and arizona. They were just one of the teams that was going to lose to St Louis and Philly.

I heard that many times before the season started....and I think its true, thier front 7 is outstanding, especially the 4 down lineman, in fact of the down lineman, the only Patriot that could even play for the Panthers is Seymour and he would have to share time! And for the record, they didnt back into the playoffs, they had that division all but clinched with 6 weeks to go, which was sooner than the Patriots...

Ya cus there division was full of stiffs this year. And they went 3-3 with six weeks to go almost losing to detriot and arizona. If thats not backing in then I don't no what is.

Also I'd take seymour over anyone on that line because he plays all their positions as well and on a line without as many "STUDS" Seymour still racks up 80 takcles and 8 sacks to go with 10 passes defended. The 10 passes defended is better than every single panther accept Deion Grant and Reggie Howard and they only have 12 each.

Beef he would have to settle for starting cornerback I guess since there is no room on that "HALL OF FAME" line. Please no one will be calling them shit in a week. You would think one of those hall of famers would match seymour over all since they get a lot of one on one matchups right? Thats the only reason Rucker had 12 sacks was peppers and jenkins taking the majority of double teams. Seymour gets doubled on every play with an occasional double thrown Washingtons way, but he is only out there in run situations.
