1. No surprise that Oregon rolled. Our defense was playing some inspired ball and this should have been a shutout, had Harris not had a lapse in concentration. Rumor is Harris was also flagged for unsportsmanlike conduct prior to the start of the game. Regardless, CU lost 7-48 at Stanford. Luck played 3.5 quarters in that game and Stanford turned the ball over twice. Stanford D held CU to 264 total yards. Oregon rolls a backup QB and backup RB, have 0 turnovers and on defense play 2's and 3's for over a half and hold CU to 231 yards. 2. Bennett. Good game. FR, first start, conference game, on the road. That's BIG. Zero turnovers and just sound, fundamental ball. 11/20 156 yards and 2 TDs. He made two mistakes - threw into coverage and put the ball on the turf once, but he also had two dropped passes. Also had 69 rushing yards. 3. Wisconsin. I thought they appeared near unbeatable. Wrong. MSU. Wow. Been a while since I've seen a game end like that. Keep your eye on MSU. We may see them in Jan. 4. Boise St. A win is a win. It wasn't impressive though. 5. It's nearly midnight and I have to go to NY early in the AM, so I might not catch all of the game but TT is currently up on OK by 31-7. If this margin continues, Oregon should jump OK. I'm not sure about Wis though. 6. LSU is clearly the best team in the nation. Too bad we opened with them. Despite being short this week, they destroyed a top 20 Auburn, 45-10. 7. Clemson is rolling. 56 last week. 59 this week vs a 5 win NC. NC has a decent defense and hasn't allowed more than 35 pts this year - and that came vs GT. Looking at Clemson's schedule, they very well could win out and go undefeated - if they can get by the Cocks. 8. Bama did OK this week. They were tied with UT (winless in con play) at the half and really looked sluggish and uninspired. They turned it on and won by 31 pts. Oddly, the exact same amount of points that UT lost to LSU by. 11/5 LSU @ Bama. Woot. 9. Oregon St playing a good game up in Seattle. Up by 10 at the half. Wish I could hang to watch but I'm falling out. I'll be happy for the Beavs if they get win #2. 10. UW's defense is crummy and I'm pleased that I don't have to read the Husky boards or hear Sloppy, or Silly or Saggy or whoever their radio personality is, talk about if/when they beat Stanford, they have a clear path to the Rose Bowl. Their defense is giving up over 400 yards a game. Oregon is going to have fun with them. Go Ducks!
I'm thinking we'll get into the top five by the end of the season. There's still a slight chance we could go to the natty, but I'm thinking we'll be around 8th tomorrow in the BCS, 7th in the AP. Here's the top 10 before today: 1. LSU 2. Alabama 3. Oklahoma (lost) 4. Oklahoma St. 5. Boise State 6. Wisconsin (lost) 7. Clemson 8. Stanford 9. Arkansas 10. Oregon Of those teams, OU and Wisconsin already lost, and Alabama/LSU still have to play each other. We play Stanford and if we win that will get them out of the top 10. Oklahoma St has to play KState and OU so there's a good chance they will go down. There's a very good chance that Clemson will go undefeated. The only real opponents they have left are Georgia Tech and South Carolina. I could see them easily winning out and going to the Natty. Arkansas still has LSU so they should have two losses before it's all said and done. That would leave Boise State, Clemson, and LSU as the probable undefeateds, and hopefully put us in the top four or five by the end of the year. Not a bad season at all (if we win out the rest of the way).
Ugh, 4 hrs of sleep and off to NY. Congrats to Beavs. Nice to see another top 5 tumble -- OK. Bodes well if Oregon can finish the season with one loss, only to the hands of #1.
