9 hrs before the draft - NBAdraft.net Draft Buzz:

"The good news is Swanigan will be picked by Portland at #26 if he's still there."

Usually when this happens with the Neil administration heads will roll - just as Kim Hughes.

Damn. So Neil got who he came into the draft wanting? Nice.

Plot twist: It was Papa Nurk, and Olshey will applaud him for it.

Yeah, there were a couple sources that reported would be taking Swanigan if he was still there. Maybe they let Caleb and his people know and they leaked it?

Portland very clearly got the two players it was targeting. There's some comfort in that.

Caleb's trainer and AAU coach said in an interview yesterday that Neil told him if Caleb was there at 26, they would pick him. So probably him.

I honestly think that Neil being paranoid about franchise leaks is not that out of line. Some his other peccadillos are frustrating. But info leaks to press can make dealing with free agents a pain in the ass or fill in other teams on your draft intentions. You want to keep a tight lid on this shit or you become the fucking Jets.

Had to be Woj or someone close to him but after the fact....who cares? We got two great pieces to work with. Could have been someone like CJ or Swanigan's agent or a family member...I'm just glad we got him...watched a lot of film on him today and he's special in my view.

I doubt it was leaked from the Blazer's front office...

Aran Smith owner of NBAdraft.net leaked the two Swanigan rumors. He missed on everything else relating to the Blazers, by a long ways. Heck he missed on many many picks in the draft. And hopefully he missed on the rumor that Swanigan has a heart murmur.

Which begs the question, who knew about Olshey taking Swanigan @ 26 outside of the Blazers organization?

Here is a C&P from his article

I was born with a heart murmur and have led a pretty active life....once it was discovered a baby aspirin a day was recommended...it's not necessarily a serious condition

Actually, this is pretty spot on.

The only rumor on here that wasn't true was Cam Oliver to the Warriors, but they got Jordan Bell instead, who they probably thought they wouldn't be able to get.

They were spot on for Iwundu, Dotson, Brown, Allen. Predicted Boston passing on Jackson, Ntilikina to the Mavs or Knicks, John Collins by the Hawks if he fell to 19. And of course, Swanigan to us at 26.
