The Greensboro Swarm, the NBA G League affiliate of the Charlotte Hornets, dropped the second game of the home-home, back-to-back 108-99 to Ciudad de Mexico Capitanes on Saturday at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex. Greensboro slides to 3-9 overall while the Capitanes improve to 4-8.

The Swarm was led by Kai Jones, who was assigned earlier in the day by the Hornets. Jones finished with 16 points, seven rebounds and a block in 31 minutes of action. The game was his sixth in a Greensboro uniform.

Ciudad de Mexico was paced by three 20-plus point scorers. Rigoberto Mendoza had a game-high 25 points to go with nine rebounds and five assists. Matt Mooney added 22 points and five rebounds. Justin Reyes finished with 21 points and seven rebounds.

Overall the Capitanes shot 50 percent from the field.

Like the first game of the back-to-back, the rematch was tightly contested throughout. Ciudad de Mexico carried a 73-67 lead into the fourth quarter and ultimately held on for the victory despite several Swarm runs to pull within one possession. The Capitanes responded each time Greensboro threatened, largely by big baskets from Mendoza who scored 16 of his points in the quarter.

Joining Jones in double digits was Joe Chealey (20 points), Cameron McGriff (12), Jalen Crutcher (10), Scottie Lewis (10) and Ikenna Ndugba (10).

The game completed the Showcase Cup portion of the Swarm's schedule. Greensboro's next two opponents are to be determined based on seeding with games played at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center in Las Vegas. The league's premier in-season scouting opportunity will span four days, December 19 to 22.
