James Bouknight's layup with 2:10 remaining in the game was the climax of a Greensboro Swarm rally from a 21-point deficit at the Fieldhouse at the Greensboro Coliseum Complex on Saturday but the Rio Grande Valley Vipers responded with back-to-back 3-pointers which essentially secured the 111-104 victory. Bouknight, on assignment from the Charlotte Hornets, led all scorers with 33 points.

The Greensboro (0-4) roster was boosted with the addition of three Hornets assignment players, including Bouknight. Joining the lottery pick in the 2021 NBA Draft was Kai Jones and JT Thor. Jones was a menace in the paint, finishing his night with 15 points, seven rebounds and five blocks in 34 minutes of action. Thor, who has spent the entirety of the season with the Swarm so far, scored 10 points to go with seven rebounds in 28 minutes.

Rio Grande Valley (3-0) used a big second quarter to build the 21-point lead. Outscoring the Swarm by 12 in the frame, the Vipers held a halftime lead 62-47. The largest lead came after a Trhae Mitchell layup late in the third quarter. The visitors were led by 29 points from Anthony Lamb, who was 10-of-21 from the field in addition to pulling down nine rebounds.

The Swarm had two others in double figures. Jalen Crutcher had 12 points, four rebounds and four assists in 34 minutes. Scottie Lewis flirted with his first double-double of the season, ending with 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists in 29 minutes.

Trevelin Queen (23 points, 10 rebounds) and Mfiondu Kabengele (15 points, 17 rebounds) represented the two Vipers to record a double-double. Daishen Nix had a solid 11 points and five assists while Christian Vital added 13 points and four rebounds off the bench.

Greensboro returns to the Fieldhouse on November 19 and 20 when the Lakeland Magic (Orlando Magic affiliate) come for a Friday-Saturday, back-to-back.
