Nick Saban has noticed Alabama's drop in production running the football this season, but he isn't laying all the blame at his running backs' feet.

Whether it's been injuries or poor blocking, there have been a number of reasons why the Crimson Tide's once potent backfield has been average compared to past years.

Through nine games, Alabama (No. 5 CFP, No. 4 AP) has 1,855 yards on 373 carries, and 53 rushes of 10 or more yards. But through the first nine games of last season, the team had more rushing yards (1,879) and more rushes of 10 or more yards (63) on 47 fewer carries.
