What really seemed as the impossible has suddenly become plausible. Vince Carter and Tracy McGrady, distant cousins whose one-time rocky relationship has grown stronger in the past year, could very well be suiting up as Raptors teammates for the second time. As far-fetched as this incredible twist of fate appears, sources believe the scenario has merit. They say McGrady misses playing with Carter, misses Toronto and has become so distraught at the losing in Orlando that he would like to come back. It's believed McGrady told a member of the Raptors during Toronto's visit to Orlando last Friday that he would welcome a return. McGrady bolted the Raptors for the Magic in 2000. He has an out-clause in his contract following next season. During Toronto's only visit to Orlando, Carter and McGrady looked so much at ease playing against one another. If T-Mac is ever to come back, the Raptors would have to move a big-ticket player like a Jalen Rose, who has been traded three times during his career. Rose has a huge contract, one that runs out following the 2006-07 season when he'll make close to $17 million US.
I think we've already discussed this rumor. It's probably not gonna happen. Tracy will say certain things for PR, but the bottom line is that he prefers stats to wins, and he bolted Toronto not because of some apparent feud with Carter, but because he wanted to be the Man on his team and average big numbers. He got that in Orlando, and isn't gonna give it up, especially since Orlando will match any money that the Raptors offer. In Toronto its back to 2nd fiddle, even if its a much improved fiddle. That's Carter's team, and he's not gonna take a back seat to TMac.
i believe Tmac has matured as a player after being forced to go through ups and downs with Orlando. i believe now he know what it takes to win and would love to help his cousin out in getting a ring. T-Mac and VC diamond getters.
I think that this might just work. Those two together would be off the chain and they would win a ring for sure as long as they kept Donyell Marshell of course
Startellis :<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">i believe Tmac has matured as a player after being forced to go through ups and downs with Orlando. i believe now he know what it takes to win and would love to help his cousin out in getting a ring. I also believe he's done a lot of growing up in Orlando and no longer feels that being :"the man" on his team is more important than winning. Although, when Tracy left for Orlando it was with the understanding that he'd be playing side-by-side with Grant Hill. Grant was and would possibly still be the man for Orlando if he remained healthy. Given the circumstance, Tracy did a pretty good job taking that team to the playoffs and making a push last season. But, reguardless of anything I just said, I don't think this deal will ever happen. If there's one place I can truly see T-Mac playing other than Orlando, it's with the Bulls. Now that Mike has been gone for awhile and Jerry Krause is out of the loop, Chicago seems ready to embrace a new superstar. They also look to be the only team that has the young talent to give up in such a trade. Not that you could get equal value for Tracy, but a deal consisting of Chandler, Crawford, Fizer and a lottery pick might be enough.
I disagree that Tracy has matured enough to get past the stats and look at the numbers. He has proven that numerous times during his stay in Orlando, most recently this year during and after 'the streak.' When Tracy came to Orlando, yes it was in understanding that Grant would be there, but no, it wasn't that he'd be the 2nd scoring option. I think his understanding was that, since Grant was a more all-around player than Carter and less of a scorer, he, Tracy, would become the main scorer, and that he'd get the numbers he wasn't getting in Toronto. I think that that attitude is still the case in the way that Tracy has failed to embrace his teammates as alternate scoring options. Not that he doens't pass - he's among league leaders. But he hasn't really allowed anyone to step up as the 2nd scoring option, because he always demands the ball to run through him. If you have a true 2nd option, the ball has to bypass you sometimes and be run through them periodically. That doesn't seem to happen in Orlando's system. Again, the deal will not happen, because of the combined egos of these talented cousins.
as other shave said.. has this not already been discussed? First off I would like to know the source of this. SOund stoo muc like a Newspaper article...
By saying he would play alongside Grant Hill, I didn't mean that he wouldn't score more that Grant. Of course his offense is going to make him the number one scoring option, but Grant would still be "the man" based solely on his leadership and veteran status. As for his tendency to demand the ball on offense, I don't see who else is going to score if not Tracy. Now that Giricek is back, he'll provide some instant offense to help out. The Magic are also missing another very good shooter right now in Pat Garrity. Other than that, Howard and Gooden are the only others on this team capable of contributing consistently on the offensive end. The major X factor that Orlando must find in order to have any substantial amount of success is a solid center. If they had that strong, inside post presence the offense would run much more smoothly IMO. Although with McGrady it's sometimes the "one step forward, two back" scenario. He was completely frazzled by the zone early in the year and proved it by talking about an early retirement. I give you that, that was dumb. Maybe he hasn't matured to the level of a KG or Steve Francis yet, but except for that early season stuff he's been handling the losing situation as well as could be expected. Getting back to the topic, I highly doubt T-Mac would ever want to play second fiddle to anyone. But, I think if he were in Kobe's place and had Shaq in the paint to help him out, he would likely be much more appreciative. That's why I brought up the topic of a possible Chicago deal. They wanted him three years ago, but Orlando won out because it was Tracy's home state. Now Chicago is in a much more appealing situation personnel wise and they have the big man in the middle that Tracy can work with. They also have Hinrich who would be a great compliment as well. Am I crazy, or does this sound like a pretty decent trio of young players?

He's elevated his game, and is now the man on his team, but that doesn't mean he knows what it takes to get a ring. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting :</div><div class="quote_post">I think we've already discussed this rumor.</div> Yeah, right here Kosarkas- Provide a link next time. <font size="1">With that said, this is now closed</font>
