T-Mac has been suffering from chronic back pains the last two seasons. It has acted up again in the qualifying rounds and will probably bother him for the entire season. He deserves a lot of credit for playing through the pain, but I think he should consider having surgery done to fix the problem for good.

If he has surgery it will likely be season ending, but can the Magic afford playing without him?

If you are the Magic do you let T-Mac continue to play in pain his career being shortened or do you tell him to take the year off and get the necessary surgery done?

He should have the surgery done after the magic lost to PISTONS and he would not misse the whole season but he has to get the surgery becuase he has a lot of years left.

Hmm thats a tough question. It depends on how severe the back pain is. He had a personal trainer that helped him through it. Simple fact is that the magic wouldnt go anywhere without him. I would only do the operation if they got out of the first round again so it doesnt linger too long into the following season.

i would try tmac this year, and immediately after the season, have him get surgery. good topic shape

or we could let him have surgery, and then we would get a top 3 pick(a center) to play beside gooden, tmac, and howard.

i would still rather have tmac play though.

He isn't going to have surgery. His back didn't even bother him last year.
He missed a couple of games because a sore back on one of the west coast trips. He said that the weightlifting he did last year helped him a lot. But his back can act up at antime so hopefully it doesn't.

You just contradicted yourself. His back didn't bother him, yet he missed games because of a sore back. [IMG]

That's like saying ... Grant Hill doesn't have an ankle problem, but he just sat out almost an entire season because his ankle is sore

He has had back problems for the last two seasons, there has been plenty of articles and concerns over it. He played through a lot of pain in the last two post-seasons, most apparent in the Pistons series. I remember T-Mac making a statement saying he cannot afford to rest much in a game or else his back will tighten up and the spasms will start. So yes there is a problem, how serious it is we don't know yet, but surgery is definately not out of the question because it's not going to heal if he continues to play with a sore back.

He got the sore back from and elbow which caused a deep bruise. I meant to say it wasn't the same chronic injury he has had in the past.

Any injury for tmac is bad if it is still lingering. He IS the magic, we dont have anyone else that could get us to the playoffs. Sad but true

Yah, I think he needs to do something to get this injury over and done with. I can't see the Magic doing anything without him, but what's more important, having t-mac in now or in the future? I hope he gets over and has another great yr. I wanna see Kobe and him go at it again ( if kobe plays this yr! lol)

Magic would be scary as hell if Mcgrady took a year off and got a top 3 pick in the Draft

yeah a really long season without him. i want him to have surgery to get healthy and stuff, but i don't, because i know how surgery has worked out for hill, so all i can say tmac, if you decide to have surgery, don't get hill's doctor.
