<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">In a perfect world, Pittsburgh forward Chris Taft would be drafted by an NBA team with a star-quality point guard. And that team would be close to home. Taft comes from Brooklyn, so guess which two teams he's pulling for in the June 28 NBA Draft? "To be local, that would be very exciting because the Knicks and Nets are basically home," said Taft, a 6-10 Coney Island and Xaverian High product who worked out for the Nets yesterday. "The Knicks have a great point guard in Stephon Marbury. That's where I hope I land, somewhere with a great point guard who is going to help me get better." That point guard over in New Jersey isn't too shabby, either. "That would be unbelievable, to play with a Jason Kidd. He is one of the greatest point guards of all time. He does everything right," said Taft. "Point guards like that you've got to love and feed off." Where Taft will go is guesswork. His stock has slipped in some eyes because of issues ranging from conditioning to a "soft" label. But he lost weight since his 13.3-point, 7.5-rebound sophomore season ended at Pitt. And he went hard at his Nets workout that also included guard Larry O'Bannon of Louisville, guard Peter Mulligan of Manhattan and Serbian forward Marko Lekic. "[Taft's] body's not soft. That's what people are saying, but he competed very hard," said Nets GM Ed Stefanski, who noted Taft is "a legitimate four-man, size wise. He's got an NBA body right now. He lost considerable weight since his days at Pittsburgh." </div> Source
I just never liked his game at Pitt. I saw him play against Craig Smith/ BC several times. Craig ate him for lunch then picked up the pieces for desert every time out. Taft probably is about 3-4 inches taller and he just didnt work for anything. Everything had to come to him. Troutman was the one who crashed the boards and did all of the dirty work. Thats why Taft is pushing for a great point guard because he cant do anything himself. Jerome Moiso here we come.
