While watching the Bills get embarrassed today, I began to think about Takeo Spikes who couldnt get out of Cincinnatti fast enough last offseason....I wonder if Takeo regrets that desicion, considering that the Bills seem to be headed in the wrong direction(6-10 with an aging QB and a subpar defense), while the Bengals are fighting for a playoff berth....the old saying "be careful what you wish for" seems to ring true in this instance
spikes said that was the best D in the league, and best LB groups in the league. he spoke to early, but i must say the bills have been a dissapointment, that D looks good on paper
i think the bills Defense is underrated, i think it is the offense that let the team down this year, they did ok defensively despite no running game, next year with Mcgahee starting HELLO AFC EAST TITLE
I think its going to take the bills a little more than a healthy mcgahee for the Bills to win the AFC east next year. With 2 first and 2 second round draft picks for the Patriots plus Colvin, I dont see why the Pats cant be even better next year.
i think you will see the difference in that they have to play a first place schedule next year will make the difference, Also, a hot team having a good year can always jump a team that struggles a bit, they wont be on fire forever
The opponents for next year and many years to come is already set regardless of what place you finish. So I guess the reason we beat the bills 31-0 was because the Pats are on fire and the Bills are struggling? I would say that is a fair statement. Then what about the dolphins last week, they just lost 2 consecutive games and beat the Bills 20-3. You could probably then say the dolphins beat the bills because the bills are just a bad team. I'm assuming if you though a harder schedule next year for the Pats was going to make the difference, then I ask you this. What is the Pats record against teams with a winning record this year?
i am afraid that schedule is affected by finish you are incorrect. will place 1st place team from each afc division where as buffalo will play 3rd or 4th
BF1 is very right, your divisional finish effects your next years shedule...by winning the AFC East, the Pats will play the Ravens, Colts, and Chiefs next year, becuse thay also won thier division...the total schedule breaks down like this: 6 Division games 4 Games against another AFC Div 2 Games against the teams that finished in the same spot inthier div 4 Games against an NFC division
Sorry, my thinking was that since the schedule was set until the 2009 season that it didnt matter anymore where you finish. So only TWO games are undetermined each year. You are right bears, now that the Bills will have 2 "easier" games next year theres no reason to not think they will win the AFC East next year (insert laugh here)
Yes it would be much easier to assume that the patriots will march on to title after title because they still ahve yet to win more than one in a row EVER
If the Bills finish last(not sure who loses the tie breaker with them or the Jets), then they get to play the Jags and Chargers compared to the Patriots games against the Colts and Chiefs...that is an advantage....and another thing, none of us knows what next season holds, even super talented teams fall on thier faces these days(did the Bucs lose many key players???, no but they sucked all year)
Beef hit the point perfect on you dont know what the next season holds. Only 2 out of the 8 division winners repeated as champs this year. If Arizona doesnt get the lucky play then its 1 out of 8. 2 teams that finished last, won there division this year. Thats why the "easier" is in quotations, what may appear to be an advantage now may not be next year. So the bills may have an advantage there. That seems like a weak point alone but I guess if you factor in a healthy mcgahee in there it would be enough. Because Travis Henry is just not good enough? I would say over 1400 rushing yards last season and over 1300 rushing yards this season is a decent running game. But if you feel a guy who had his knee busted out will do better much better than that next year, then ok.
I thought drafting McGahee this past offseason was the stupidest pick in the draft. Why waste a first round draft pick on a guy with a busted out knee, when you have Travis Henry playing that position? I felt that the Bills should have tried to draft a player that would have an impact sooner than later. I thought that drafting McGahee was almost a consession that they didn't think they were going to make a run this year. Of course, they didn't. If they thought McGahee was worth a risk, fine, but waste a first round pick on him. Stupid.
the differnence is Henry did not consistently power for yards, he is smaller back and had a few good games but cant get consistent yardage. Mcgahee is a bigger back with comparable speed, plus he cant possibly fumble as much as henry(ok he could but he didnt in college)
