I have no problem going with the hot hand. Talbot is a 26yo career minor league so the bloom may come off the rose at any time and very quickly. Ride him while you can.

Hank saying all the right things, but you have to know he's upset. AV and staff have have made it quite clear there will be no favorites. The players may start to long for the good old days of Torts'. AV starting to make Torts' look like a softy.

Mistakes, mistakes, mistakes. well rested Winnipeg giving it to the Rangers.
Rangers are a step behind. Terrible second period. Yep. They are what they are...a .500 team.

Who will take the bull by the horns and lead the Rangers? NO ONE.

yup. That's why that other thread about him was so cringe worthy.

At least now we know who starts next game.

It doesn't matter who starts in goal, when the defense continues to allow so many open shots. Not saying Hank or Cam haven't given up cheap goals, just saying that the defense has to limit all the point blank shots. To many men left unmarked, and the puck always seems to find them at the worst time.

The guy gave up one bad goal last night, when it was 3-2 already and odds are we weren't scoring to tie it late anyway. Can we jump ship on a guy any faster...LOL. This board is awesome sometimes.

Now Cam is what he is, a back-up goalie, but I don't think one off night, with one real soft goal, says the Talbot experiment is over...:).

Yes, it is. Especially when threads like this are made

    http://sportstwo.com/threads/251741-I-know-this-is-heresy-but

"we can trade Cam for a prospect + a 1st"
"We can let Hank go if he wants too much b/c we have a young stud"

Yeah, that is true. People need to chill on what we can get for Cam. Or Cam is better then Hank. But on the flip side, one questionable game (with one soft goal) does not mean jump ship on Cam IMO at least.

At any rate, goalie is the least of our issues I think.

    chuck,
What I meant by the talbot experiment being over is he is very capable backup and should stay as such. Hank is still the king.

Talbot had a nice little run which got hank some rest which will pay off hopefully later in the season. Hank is still number one but if his contract demands become outrageous the rangers at least have another option to consider. Can't see Hank getting 9 plus from the rangers unless that salary cap is skyrocketing upwards which I haven't heard

Why couldn't Hank get $9M/yr? that's "only" a $2M incremental cap hit from his current contract.

31, he could get 9 or even god forbid 10 if sather wants to pay him and give him the years. Problem is we have a lot of other free agents to either pay or sign from another team to plug needs and if hank gets too much money without the cap going up hes gonna be on the ice next season looking at the team which will be called hank and the 5 musketeers.

Talbot is a back-up, but I don't think it has anything to do with last night. Hank is our goalie. Always has been and always will be hopefully.

And sure he can get 9 or 10 or more potentially, anything is possible. I am just saying I personally wouldn't give him more than 8 mill per +/- as a cap hit. That's me. I don't think building a winning team in the cap era starts with a 9 + mill goalie. No other goalie has higher than a 7 mill or so cap hit, and that makes sense to me. That's just my own opinion. Doesn't mean it is right or wrong.

Unless he secretly wants out and dosent see himself winning here and uses $$ as the excuse for leaving, i dont see him holding out for more than 8m. He needs to be sharper this season.
