<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>ALBANY, N.Y. - WR Plaxico Burress' contract situation isn't likely to be resolved soon, according to someone informed of the progress of talks between the team and Burress' agent, Drew Rosenhaus. The person, who requested anonymity because talks are ongoing, said the negotiations might soon be broken off completely because no progress has been made and the sides remain far apart. Unless one side decides to unexpectedly cave to the other's demands, this situation appears likely to last until at least the start of the regular season. The person also said the Giants weren't planning on negotiating with any player who didn't report to camp. That wasn't a problem when Burress arrived on time last Thursday. If talks break off at this point, it remains unclear what will happen. Burress, who has three years remaining on his current deal and is believed to be asking for about $9 million per season, has maintained he's sitting out practice because of a sore ankle, not his contract. "I'm going to move on from that," he said on Monday when asked if he thought he'd have a new deal by now. "I'm just going to go out and keep being consistent and take my game to the next level, try to be great week-in and week-out."</div> <div align="center">Source: NJ Star-Ledger</div>

I would've agreed with you until this past season. You have to admit he manned up and put it all together this year. I think this lag in negotiations has more to do with Rosenhaus than Plax. He knows Burress' age and the kind of year he went through is pretty special, so he's trying to get that TO/Moss level pay right now. The Giants are wisely unwilling to go that far (especially since he's injured that same ankle twice now). I just hope this doesn't become too much of an incident. As much of a leader and trooper he's been lately, Plaxico also has Shockey-potential.
It seems he has taken everything level minded, and Steelers fans can laugh all they want because they have the overrated Santonio Holmes on the other side instead a top 10 WR who played through injury after injury all of last year.
It's easy to get excited about Santonio, at times he has brilliant flashes and has become more consistent. This is his break out year, if he's going to have one.
