More ore less a formality, but Tanaka will start opening day http://espn.go.com/new-york/mlb/sto...iro-tanaka-start-opening-day-new-york-yankees
70-90 sounds good /fair, and not too taxing to begin with. Whatever happened to the days, (a good stat to find) when a SP went an entire game with but 100 pitches or less?
One thing about baseball is the weather.......... This year winter does not want to move north..... in the northeast. Cold weather will affect the pitching staff in New York. Remember Andy Petitte pitching well in a snowstorm at the stadium? The way pitchers are coddled today, it will be difficult to pitch in 30 degree weather. One thing these Yankees got going for itself is their pitching. Not so much with their hitting and defense. I do not have high expectations. I just want spring to be kinder.
Last years 1st month from Opening Day forth thru April into early May, Baseball was BRUTAL in Wrigley, Minnesota, Detroit, Cincy, Cleveland, NY had a ton of rainy games, with very cold cold weather, yet one day like a few years back, when Cleveland had their 2 week home-stand in Milwaukee's Dome. Add Denver to the list, and one year, were going to see a World Series on the Snow, or one too many ST nice weather games, freeze up. This extreme weather not only a hindrance to any player or Team, and can be a show stopper for any Player who gets hurt as a result, blowing arms out, tearing/pulling muscles.... Last Winter was one of the worst I can ever recall, for all Northern States Outdoors Stadiums. We've had Jacobs Field snowed out one year for Opening Day & the next 2 week home-stand. Denver has had its share of Snow in April. I can't help but think the Season needs to be a bit shorter, with Playoffs Re-Calculated, maybe even giving the best Won Loss Team a 1st round bye, with a the other 2 Divisional Teams playing a 5 Game DLS set. Just a thought. Or they can allow ice skates, along with Starter Coats on the Fields......
