Get something only a Portlander would know.

Like a maple bar with bacon on it.

depends on what the tat is, why it was done, and how well it was done.

the one above - tat idea is cool, obviously a fan, but should have gotten a better artist - it looks very poor quality, especially the skin and blood - ugh.

Some of these may have been done already, but...

    A "man" having a baby?

Portland cop shooting a black in the back?

2-headed catfish from the Tualatin River?

A "Get out of paying corporate property tax free" card?

Neil Goldschmidt stabbing Michael Franke to death?

Make sure you go to an established tatooist who uses new needles, puts the inks in separate cups, and doesn't have meth-heads hanging around his studio.

Hep C and aids are frequently transmitted through tatoos.

There has never been a case in the United States where a person contracted HIV because of getting a tattoo.

Oh man, my favorite Oregon conspiracy (conspiracies?) ever!

That case had so many twists and turns and bizarre side stories. Great stuff.

The last payoff went to DA / prosecuting attorney Dale Penn when they made him head of the Oregon Lottery a few years back.

I think tattoos are stupid. Not that people that get them are stupid (necessarily) but I think that the odds of one being something that someone regrets is pretty high and I don't know why we need to pile intentional potential regrets on top of all the other ones that life will throw at us against our will.

Facial hair? Haircuts? Clothes? (Most) piercings? Those things are ways to express oneself without leaving a permanent mark (other than the digital pictures that are captured during the experience, of course... :) )
