<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>Tatum Bell to get start at RB for Broncos in Week 2Associated PressDENVER -- The running back plan has been spelled out: Tatum Bell will start, Mike Bell rotates in and whoever has the hot hand will receive the bulk of the carries.Tatum BellRunning BackDenver BroncosProfile2006 SEASON STATISTICSRush Yds TD Rec Yds TD15 103 0 0 0 0That's how Mike Shanahan is going to treat Sunday's game against Kansas City."I hope it's me that gets hot," Tatum Bell said with a grin. "I could go two series and Mike go one series, as long as I get that extra series."I feel like I've paid my dues and earned [the right] to be the man."Tatum Bell started Sunday against the Rams and had 15 carries for 103 yards. However, he turned the football over in the first quarter.Meanwhile, Mike Bell had 10 carries for 58 yards and a 1-yard touchdown run. Not bad for a rookie who was playing with a compound fracture of his right middle finger. He's not sure how he suffered the injury, only that it came when he was trying to pick up St. Louis' Leonard Little on the outside. Bell was bowled backward, Little stripped the football from Jake Plummer and Bell hurt the finger in the process of trying to recover the fumble."The bone came out and the fingernail came up, but it looked like it went back in place," Shanahan said of the injury. "He should be able to go."Bell's not going to let a little finger injury keep him on the sideline. He'll simply tape it up like he did against St. Louis."I had to suck it up, this isn't college, it's the NFL," Bell said. "I can play."While Mike Bell was the first-string tailback most of training camp, he wasn't bitter about being replaced on opening day."I like learning and watching Tatum in front of me," Bell said. "I have to work hard and get better."Tatum Bell feels like after two years of serving as a backup to the likes of Quentin Griffin, Reuben Droughns and Mike Anderson, he's finally earned the respect of the coaching staff. The promotion of Mike Bell to starter in camp was a test and he felt like he aced the exam."I dealt with the adversity pretty good," Bell said. "I think they're trusting me now. I need to keep doing the little things right and not slip in practice."Copyright 2006 by The Associated Press</div>http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2584153
