<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Taylor optimistic At the monthly meeting of University of St. Thomas boosters Friday at the St. Paul Radisson, the speakers were Timberwolves President Chris Wright and club owner Glen Taylor. Wright talked about previous challenges he had selling the team to the season ticket holders, the corporate supporters and others. He didn't think the challenge this summer would be more difficult, despite the team's disappointing season. Taylor looked at Troy Hudson, who was in the audience, and talked about the fact that the Wolves point guard, like others on the team, didn't have a good season. "I am open with my players," he said. Taylor talked about his many businesses and said his theory is that when you get to the top, that is when you have to work the hardest to produce and continue to get the job done. "The problem with our basketball team was that we got to the Western [Conference] finals the year before, and when you get to the top you have to work even harder to stay on top," he said. "We didn't do that." He promised the audience that he would put a winning team on the floor next year. He repeated what he had said before, that maybe the team added a couple of players who were bad influences and it was something he hadn't done before and wouldn't do again. Later he said that one of the players, free-agent guard Latrell Sprewell, will not be back next year. Taylor said that management relaxed some last summer after the successful season and because of that the team wasn't as good as it should have been. He guaranteed that even if he has to pay former coach Flip Saunders about $4.5 million for the coming season, the last year of Saunders' contract, that cost would not deter him from hiring a top coach for the future. Taylor said the coach he hires will have to live here, because if he is losing, he should have to go to the grocery store and hear from Wolves fans.</div> Source I also read Sprewell has lowered his demands from $14.6M per year to a meage $10M per year. Latrell I think you and your starving family might have to deal with $5M at the most?
No way would Latrell go for 5 mill per year, although, it would be really nice. But I do want to see him out of here. The inconsistency, selfishness, and poor attitude got under my skin and I think he needs to be out of here.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">I also read Sprewell has lowered his demands from $14.6M per year to a meage $10M per year.</div> Yea I found what you were reffering to on hoopshype.com: <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">"Latrell Sprewell had lowered his demands with the Timberwolves for a new deal. Originally, Jim Dolan's all-time favorite Knick wasn't taking a dime less than the $14.6 million he made this season. But he now will settle for $10 mil per year. He'd be wise to keep moving down if he wants to re-sign with the Wolves." New York Daily News</div> source
well i'm glad it's finally offical that sprewell is gone. i hope KM and taylor does intend to put on great changes on the roster and hire one great coach whos got balls but brains as well...noices are that cassel is staying i wonder what shape he will be..anyway i hope we had our lesson learned and another PG will be signed hopefully an experienced one...
It was obvious that Spree wouldn't come back. And I think Taylor said it before. He still wants 10 mil after what happened this season? He must be crazy to think that anyone would be willing to give him that much. That pretty much guarantees that we won't see him next season. But if he is willing take a big paycut and give his commitment to play hard, I wouldn't mind him coming back.
you guys would pay 5 mil for sprewell? the guy is a cancer. you've seen what happened to the T-Wolves this season after his contract demands. plus he's old. IMO he's looking at a vets minimum. from the hawks. ok maybe the hawks would have to pay him more but the idea is there. no good team looking to contend wants him. good luck feeding your family on the vets minimum sprewell!

Spree can still play well and isn't a cancer when he actually plays with effort. And the vet minimum is still over 1 million which is still more than most of us will make.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Linkin:</div><div class="quote_post">No one said they would be willing to give him that much.</div>Well I saw it being suggested over and over so I jus assumed you guys would think he would get that much. With all of Sprewell's history and after the T-Wolves incident, are you willing to bet on that? I know I wouldn't. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting Linkin:</div><div class="quote_post"> And the vet minimum is still over 1 million which is still more than most of us will make.</div>Duh ...but for Sprewell's expensive taste that's like minimum wage.
I think me may get more money from some other team. Think we may have the similar experience to the Knicks when he visits?
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Sabretooth:</div><div class="quote_post">I think me may get more money from some other team. Good to know he doesnt want to much money. The rockets would take him in possibly. He is a van gundy guy.
10 mil is still too much for Spree!! What does he believe in that he's going to get that money from any team???????????? Some GMs are dumb but not that dumb.
Latrell being gone shouldn't be breaking news. The writing was on the wall throughout the season especially when Latrell opened his mouth about how he needed to feed his family. Good riddance. I won't miss him. He is not the player he used to be. Expect him to be in Houston with Van Gundy collecting former Knicks.
What do you guys think of Bobby Simmons in a Minnesota uniform? But if I was GM, I wouldn't pay a penny over $4,500,000 for LS.
Simmons is going to get lot more money and the Timberwolves have zero room in the cap. I will be shocked if we sign a FA this year.
If about 5 mil fails Sprewell and his family theres always his Car Customization biz, and of course, Dada Sprees
