TCU officially hired Randy Shannon as the team's linebackers coach Thursday.

Shannon, the head coach at Miami from 2007-10, takes the spot vacated by Tony Tademy, who resigned a few weeks ago.

Shannon spent last season as an analyst at ESPN and traveling to a handful of programs to learn about how they operated as he kept himself involved in college football. He decided he was ready to return and does so as a member of Gary Patterson's TCU staff. The Horned Frogs begin play in the Big 12 for the first time this season.
