Will the curent 2006 Team USA beat a team with the best Rest of the World players? Here's my Rest of the World team. PG: Steve Nash/Tony Parker/Sarunas Jasikevicius SG: Manu Ginobli/Boris Diaw/Ben Gordon SF: Andre Kirilenko/Peja Stojakovic/Andres Nocioni SF: Dirk Nowitzki/Pau Gasol/Mehmet Okur C: Yao Ming/Zydrunas Ilgauskas/Samuel Dalembert I think it will be close..Just shows the rest of the world has really caught up the last few years. I cant wait to see this matchup. We probably need to have one of these games during the preseason.
I'll still take the US team. CP3 < Nash DWade > Manu LeBron > AK47 Amare > Dirk Dwight > Yao That's right I think Dwight would abuse Yao on the boards and mandhandle him with his strength down low. I know the Rocket's fans are going to eat me alive but it's my opinion.
USA probably lose, the World have the range and the size. Though the USA didn't have all their best weapons Kobe Bryant, Billups, Marion, KG, TD, Shaq, etc...if they have KG, KB, TD, the USA will win. By the way, this would be my true dream team lineup to play against the World. PG: D-Wade/Chaunsey Billups SG: Kobe Bryant/Allen Iverson/Vince Carter SF: Lebron James/Shawn Marion PF: Tim Duncan/Kevin Garnett/Amare Stourdemire C: Shaquille O'Neal/Dwight Howard

It's a lot closer than you think.

I think that it will be a real close matchup but U.S. will come out on top. But 1thing that U.S. doesnt have is big centers. I think it will be really close. The internation players might win..but it matters who plays better and better as a team.
Amare is to physical for Dirk and we saw how he played against it in the finals. The same reason for Dwight, Yao may be better skill-wise but Dwight's physical presence is too much for Yao.

If it's just one game, it could go either way. In a 7 game series, I'd take the US team to win in 6 7. If they played a few 7 games series', the World would also win a few of them. The world team is very nice because you have Yao in the middle, then really what you should do on the perimeter is have: PG - Nash SG - Manu SF - Peja PF - Dirk US can't play a zone, and can't double Yao because it means they pay for it. Raja Bell is also an International guy if I remember correctly. If you want the defense then you can substitute Peja for Kirilenko like you have, and the lineup is still deadly. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">CP3 < Nash DWade > Manu LeBron > AK47 Amare > Dirk Dwight > Yao</div> Like others have said, I'm not sure how you concluded the Amare > Dirk and Dwight > Yao. Especially the Dwight over Yao. How does Howard's ability to "man handle" Yao on the glass alone give him the matchup?

Dwight's defense can frustrate Yao and force him into taking bad shots therefore giving him the rebounding opportunities. I've always thought Amare was better than Dirk and I'm going to stick to it.
Yao, when agressive is actually very very strong..Dude has atleast 6 inches and 60 pounds over Dwight.

How good Amare will be after his come back is not really known by any of us right now. <div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">You're comparing 1 country to the entire world.</div> I agree, doesn't really prove much, I mean the WHOLE WORLD together should be able to put out a team that can compete with the US.
Where is this coming from. We arent even reigning champs. Right now argentina is teh team to beat. There should really be an Argentina vs. the rest of the world. Basketball is all about chemistry, all the talent in the US could help us beat a bunch of scrubs scattered with a few goo players.

But you say Argentina vs the Rest of the World? lol . C'com, it's good to give the Olympic winner the recognition they deserve but against the whole world including US players? that too much . Argentina won ONLY 1 goal medal, how many did the USA won? Too many people underestimating Yao strength. The guy is 7'6, 290 lbs for god sake. Even Kwame Brown, as big as Dwight (probably stronger and play better low-post D than Dwight) couldn't even handle Yao 1-1. Why? because Yao is too tall, he will shoot over any players and his shot is money in the mid-low post area.

Argentina wonit all, and are returning all of their major players if i am not mistaken. So why arent they the team to beat? The US is way too cocky. We just assume that we will win the gold, and got a major reality check last year. I hope we win it all coming up in 08.

True, Argentina plays better because of their team chemistry but the talent level? you can't say Argentina has more talent than the USA or any other country. However it is clear the USA has more talent when it comes to basketball compare to other country so it would be fair to compare USA vs the World rather than Argentina vs World. It just doesn't make any sense.
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting Heat4Life:</div><div class="quote_post">You're comparing 1 country to the entire world.</div> I know its not a fair comparison. My point is you can now build a team with international players that has a legitimate chance of beating the US National Team. During the 1992 and 1996 dream team eras, the 15th best player on Team USA was better than any other international player out there. That's not the case anymore. I still think a team with the top 15 ballers in the US today can beat a team with the top 15 players from the rest of the world, but pretty soon, there will be an international team that can match one on one with Team USA.
