<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">INDIANAPOLIS ? The Timberwolves' quest to sign a productive big man this summer proved futile, but they pursued one of the biggest names on the free-agent market. Forward Al Harrington said he seriously considered signing with the Wolves because of the allure of playing with all-star Kevin Garnett. Harrington left the Atlanta Hawks and returned to the Indiana Pacers, with whom he started his career, but he claims he could have been playing his home games at Target Center this season. "It was very close," Harrington said Monday after an exhibition game against the Wolves. "They tried everything they could. It was just Atlanta not wanting to accept anything that they offered (in a sign-and-trade deal). The interest was definitely there. They definitely tried everything they could to get me; it just didn't work out." "Very close" is a matter of interpretation, and Harrington might be overstating the situation. The Wolves didn't have any salary cap space and couldn't afford Harrington, who wouldn't accept the mid-level exception, worth a little more than $5 million this season, which is the most Minnesota could have offered him as an outright free agent. Plus, Atlanta didn't find anyone on the Wolves' roster appealing, other than Garnett. Instead, Harrington signed a four-year, $35.3 million deal with Atlanta, who sent him immediately to Indiana in a sign-and-trade deal. Harrington, who averaged 18.6 points and 6.9 rebounds a game last season, said specific contract terms never were discussed with the Wolves. The key for the Pacers was that they had a $7.5 million trade exception they used in the deal with cost-conscious Atlanta, and that asset proved critical in the deal. The Wolves have a $4.2 million trade exception they acquired in the trade that sent Wally Szczerbiak to the Boston Celtics last season.</div> Source
PG - Mike James SG - Ricky Davis SF - Trenton Hassel PF - Al Harrington C - Kevin Garnett Equals = Championship.

Ricky Davis and Mike James are ballhogs and Al Harrington likes to do things his own way. That team would be a headache for Kevin McHale.
<div class="quote_poster">Franchise4Ever Wrote</div><div class="quote_post">PG - Mike James SG - Ricky Davis SF - Trenton Hassel PF - Al Harrington C - Kevin Garnett Equals = Championship. </div> I am pretty sure we couldn't have gotten James and Harrington in any scenario money wise.
I was just playing around . Even so, a team of ball hogs can get the job done with good chemistry. Look at the All-Star Games every year. That's not to say that Al Harrington would have been such an impact that they would have won every game but he could have helped tremendously. <div class="quote_poster">Quoting TheFreshPrince:</div><div class="quote_post"> I am pretty sure we couldn't have gotten James and Harrington in any scenario money wise.</div> No doubt, but if he had bit his tongue and put his money aside, don't you think that he could have atleast helped?
yes, but not in a very possitive way. He is a scorer, which he don't need anymore. We need a bruiser down low (which hopefully craig smith is) not another scorer.

Lol, it's just the fact that the Wolves' interests never have a big man in the picture so I guess I got used to that fact.
