http://hoopshype.com/salaries.htm LA Lakers - 36 mil Dallas Mavs - 43 mil New York - 32 mil Toronto - 48 mil Memphis - 38 mil SAS - $33 mil POR - $33 mil Detroit - $42 mil PHX - $42 mil Boston - $40 mil Utah - $45 mil Orlando - $39 mil Atlanta - $39 mil Philly - $24 mil All the teams above have the ability to offer a MAX Contract to the available free agents of 2015. Obviously some will lose that ability if they resign their existing "free agents", but that isn't a guarantee. This summer can be very active, especially if teams are wanting to bring in a 4 year player and avoid having to max them out in 2016 with the new salary cap. Here is the list of free agents, possibly in order of contract http://hoopshype.com/free_agency_2015.htm The Max Players 1.) LeBron - Will most likely not "opt out" until next summer 2.) Marc Gasol - Most likely re-sign to Memphis but could be swayed to leave. Still up in the air. 3.) Aldridge - At the beginning of the season, he seemed a lock. Could sign somewhere else 4.) Kawhi Leonard - This is a rookie max, so it's much smaller than the others above. 5.) Kevin Love - This could be the player that will be the biggest MAX signing mistake. 6.) Jimmy Butler - Restricted and Chicago will match any offer, IMO 7.) Dwade - He could definitely move to a team with a shot at a title. I think he's stayed pretty loyal, but possibly another title could tempt him. 8.) DeAndre Jordan - One of the best defenders, shittiest FT shooters and possibly the most "ME" of the bunch. The second tier of players (probably the 12-14 mil guys) 1.) Tim Duncan - If he doesn't retire, I expect him to sign for 12 mil so Spurs can still sign a max player. 2.) Goran Dragic - I think New York or Dallas is his destiny. 3.) Draymond Green - I don't think GS will let him go. Maybe a toxic rookie max could pry him away, but the team that does definitely is paying 1.50 per 1.00 4.) Brook Lopez - I think he is definitely available, especially if some team offers a near max contract. Who will be that stupid? 5.) Millsap - He is deserving of a 12-14 mil contract. Utah probably wishes they never let him go. 6.) Al Jefferson - Too one dimensional, but many teams will pay him for his post up game. 7.) Reggie Jackson - I actually like this kid. I think OKC is gonna kick themselves for letting him go as well. 8.) Roy Hibbert - This is the player I think we take a big chance on. He would be a "game changer" if he played like he did 2 season's ago. I think with the right environment and players around him, he could be just as good as Jordan with a better FT% 9.) Tyson Chandler - He is old, but definitely able. 10.) Wes Matthews - Only team I see paying him the 12-14 mil is our team. I hope we don't. If he didn't get injured, he would be a sure fire 12-14 mil player. Notable FREE AGENTS Robin Lopez, Patrick Beverly, David West, Lou Williams, Kanter, Danny Green, Asik, Jamal Crawful, Eric Gordon, T. Thompson, Mosgov, Carroll, Shumpert, Brewer, Bass, Brandan Wright, Afflalo, Gerald Green, and Mike Dunleavy
This season was the last season Allen had to pay for Roy's contract. Wow, he must have really hated paying for 3 years and no production @ 15 mil a pop
This is a great link it shows the most any team can have in cap space and the least they can have and an explanation of how they have the most they have. It wasn't updated after the trade deadline. http://www.basketballinsiders.com/nbas-bestworst-case-2015-16-cap-projections/ Example would be Dallas, they could have 32 mill in cap space... if Ellis ($9.1mil), Felton ($4.5mil) and Aminu ($1.1mil) all decide to opt out. Otherwise they can offer $17mil... if they renounce Chandler, Haywood, Jefferson, Villanueve, Barea and a handful of smaller contract guys. So Dallas could be looking at a starting lineup of Devin Harris, Ellis, LA, and Dirk. Parsons might be out most of next season due to MF. And on top of that Lamarcus would have to walk away form like close to $40 mill to go there under those circumstance.
Man.... I really want Marc Gasol. This team with Gasol/LA/Dame would be a legit championship contender.
That list is full of errors. Hibbert and West have player options that they are pretty likely to exercise. Crawford has an unguaranteed option left.
$33 mil to work with? So, if we re-sign Aldridge ($18M) and Wes ($12M?), we've essentially got pocket change for FA signings. Throw in RoLo and we've got the same team as this year. Is that enough to compete if players get healthy and CJ and Meyers continue to develop? Seems to me that Olshey has a big decision to make in that if he wants to make a splash on the FA market he's going to have to renounce Bird rights on some core pieces.
For us, we i think sign and trades could work. So the players have the ability to still keep their bird rights? Not quite sure how that works. Didn't the new agreement kind make sign and trades obsolete?
That's the thing I think maybe the most realistic. We could essentially re-sign everyone, then find a vet MLE player. This would really be our best case scenario.
The new rules... Teams would retain bird rights, but a player can't get more $$$ or years in a S&T than if they left outright. IOW a player is limited to 4 years with 4.5% interest if it is part of a S&T, rahter than staying with their team and getting 5 years with 7.5% raises. In the past they could get the full home cookin in a S&T.
