Terry Praises 'Three-O' Walcott

In a convincing victory England sought revenge for their European Championship failure by handing Croatia a 4-1 humbling.

Three goals from Theo Walcott and one from Wayne Rooney secured the three points and England maintained their 100 per cent start to the World Cup qualifying campaign.

Joe Cole had to be taken off the pitch early in the second half though after Robert Kovac led with his elbow to head a ball and ended up nearly concussing the Chelsea midfielder.

Terry told Setanta Sports: "Our game plan was to assess the situation which we did and put pressure on them which they didn't like. We also respected their home record."

Regarding the performance of jet-heeled winger Theo Walcott, who scored England's first competitive hat-trick since Michael Owen's rout in Munich in the 2002 World Cup qualifying round, Terry said: "In the first ten or 15 minutes against Andorra he set the game alight and again he troubled the left back tonight."

"He has really given the manager food for thought tonight. If he continues playing like that he will probably keep his place. Credit to the boy, he is still young, and he has stepped up... He gives us a great outlet on the right."

Terry continued: "We can't get carried away though, there is still a long way to go. But we will enjoy the result."

Concerning the head injury sustained by Chelsea team-mate Joe Cole, Terry mentioned: "I didn't see it. Cole has a bad cut though so Kovac must have caught him..."
