when you say: “with dame out, we ran more movement sets”, that tells me hes not coaching this team, cause it sure sounds like dame (and cj to a lesser extent) are the ones calling plays etc

that also explains when a certain player is having a good night and is hurting the opponent and then we stop giving him possessions, cause other players need to get their number of possessions

were all witnesses that the blazers from time to time play a beautiful game with ball and player movement, but then we return to the same iso crap weve been subjected to watch for years

why dont we play like this when dame and cj are there, especially when we have a big that can pass the ball like nurk and im not a fucking coach, but from the top of my head i can name a couple of plays we can run through nurk, from both low and high post... nurk is good with backdoor passing, but in order to do so, other players need to make cuts and we also know that he can pass the ball from the low post to the open shooter at the 3-point line or we can use his interior passing and thats a good bball according to me

is stotts afraid that dame and cj wont like it, so he lets them play how they wont... i simply want my team, any team for that matter, to play the bball the right way and that starts with passing the ball and player movement

Let me run this through the Terry Stotts translator:

    *Beep boop beep*

"With Dame out I had to actually do my job, so I dusted off my little clip board and diagrammed some plays."

You don't make all star games and you don't get big fucking contract with out getting your numbers. Yes I think they both want to win but they want there numbers too. It's alright be little selfish sometimes but as long you go back to the team concept majority of the time. Dame and CJ can't bring us championship if they don't include the rest of the team in the offense. Last night night the players look happy everyone was getting touches and shots I believe we had 3 players with 14 each. So I believe it translate it on the defense side. That's why I saying giving players opportunities in making a play on the offense ends probably will make you give little bit more effort on the defense side and translate to wins.

I think the offense also might have run better because most of the guys knew there were going to get shots. I think sometimes when Dame and CJ are both out there and the number of shots outside those two are limited that players shoot shots instead of passing. Last night they knew they would get shots so they made the passes that sometimes are passed up for a bad shot.

Lillard is averaging almost 8 apg and the team 21 apg.

The team had a total of 17 assists last night. There was a lot of iso ball.

For full context leading up to this quote:

Question: "How similar were your play call and actions tonight?

Answer: "Basically ran the same stuff. Probably fewer pick & rolls...Obviously, we're a heavy pick and roll team with Dame. We didn't put anything new in, but probably ran more movement sets."

"with dame out, we ran more movement sets." was not the quote.

This thread is #FakeNews and the stats and quotes back it up. Selective editing sucks anytime it’s used to push a narrative.

Most of his assist goes to either to the center or CJ or who is in CJ place. Plus I believe he should be average at least 10 a game. Plus I knocking Dame but there's not a lot ball or player movement while he running the show. I believe if we have the ball and player movement I think it be easier for him to score plus getting others involved. Dame is great offense weapon don't get me wrong about that but going iso or going aroun screens or just shooting the ball come down the court is not offense that's everyone involved. CJ is know better either it's alright be little selfish but not to a point that effect everyone around them in offense and that I believe effects our defense. Maybe if everyone is involved in the offense just our defense will improve.

I actually think Dame has pretty good court vision and needs Stotts to start telling guys to move off the ball. When Dame has that happening for a few games he'll start hitting open teammates that are moving. Until then he will hit open teammates that are standing around and they'll likely continue to miss too many shots.

    High thought of the night:

Maybe we’ve forgotten what having a superstar is like?
When you have a star like dame....you win and lose with him.every player “stuck” on a team that doesn’t have multiple stars on it runs their offense through them and what they do well.
Even when you look back at GS. Yeah they ran a great off ball offense but Steph is elite at that.

At the end of the day..it’s not our offense it’s the defense that will make us a great. Everyone shot well last night. On nights wheh that doesn’t happen (which is most likely) we’ll all be calling to give Dame the ball

I think Dame could have been great being the focal point of an offense that had a ton of off ball movement and I still think he can. It's just that he might be comfortable with what he's done with the same coach his entire career. I think if Dame was pushed to be better, as crazy as it sounds for one of the top five offensive weapons in the game, he would be better. On defense if he was pushed I actually think he would be good.

Just going by the eye test, it seemed to me that we pushed the ball up court quicker than usual, but it didn’t seem that we had more ball movement than usual.

I think the result had more to do with Philly underestimating our bench players than with any coaching changes.

That said, I really liked the urgency everyone played with.

It's not this year thing, that we play different basketball without Lillard. Let alone playing without Lillard and McCollum. All teams in NBA want to have superstars. It's no coincidence that team needs three of them to make championship push. Looks like it's not about all stars fire power, but more about movement. Ball is bit faster than a player when you don't hold it, so if you got 3 all stars you move ball and you involve 3/5 of a team into a game instantly. If you got two or one you go into Houston Harden and OKC Westbrook mode.
It seems it's better for results to have three stars on the same level than one superstar level above.
