Texans players want McNair in on talks

    "Depending on the NFL labor scenario you endorse, the owners and players could return to the bargaining table before they return to court April 6.

    When they do resume negotiations for a new collective bargaining agreement, the players will be represented by class counsel in their antitrust lawsuit against the owners because they decertified as a union.

    Texans middle linebacker DeMeco Ryans and offensive tackle Eric Winston would like for owner Bob McNair to become involved in negotiations. McNair had expressed optimism Friday that a deal can be reached "before too much damage is done."

    "Mr. McNair's a good businessman who's a voice of reason, and I'd love to see him get involved," said Winston, one of the Texans' alternate player representatives. "He's a moderate voice.

    "When we were negotiating, (NFL commissioner) Roger Goodell and (general counsel) Jeff Pash couldn't make a deal. They'd have to leave the room and check with the owners.""
